"You see, we are currently in a castle that is on an island floating in the middle of nowhere in a dimension that is hidden somewhere above the forest," Fae explained. It was a loaded sentence and a lot of information to take in.
Kies gave the undead a confused expression and said, "Sorry?" The only new thing that he got from the undead was that they were in another dimension.
"It's exactly as complicated as it sounds," Fae tells Kies. "Don't ponder too hard on what I just said, it's not all that too important. What is important though is that we figure something out from here."
"Took you long enough." Ammine walked up beside them and bent over and scooped some of the water in the pond with a cup of some kind.
"What is that?" Kies asked her.
"This?" Ammine held up the cup which was actually a gourd with the insides hollowed out. "They're all over the place. They're too sweet for my tastes but there isn't exactly much food here. Speaking of which, do you even need to eat or drink?"
"No." Well, not anymore. He used to need food and water but it suddenly just stopped one day. It was the day that they met Tonahl.
"Hmph, should've known." Ammine went back to filling her gourd with the magic imbued of the pond. Kies watched her as she drank the water. He wasn't sure if it was a good idea to drink magical water but it should be okay since Fae wasn't stopping her. "What? Do you need something?" Ammine saw that Kies was looking at her and asked him if something was wrong.
"No, it's nothing." Kies shook his head and headed to the tree where Haro was waiting for him.
"Hoot. You're alive, child." The owl had a small animal under one of his talons and it was squealing loudly. Haro grabbed it with his beak and gulped the entire thing down before continuing speaking. "You best get some rest while you still can child. We're about to start fighting again."
"What do you mean?"
"We have a small period of time to rest before the White Witch returns. She is currently fighting with the Bone Whistler to prevent him from recovering his strength. We'll be the ones to finish him off once she returns," Haro explained to Kies.
Just as Haro said that a flash of light appeared out of nowhere, blinding everyone. After the light faded away, Kies saw the White Witch standing in the center of the lake atop the water. He immediately averted his gaze after seeing that the witch was in her humanoid form and not the other one.
"Your excellency." Fae bowed to the White Witch, placing one of his hands on his chest while keeping the other one on his staff. Everyone else also did the same and respectfully greeted the witch.
"Are we moving out right now?" one of the werewolves asked.
"Y-yes," the witch stuttered. There were traces of fatigue and wear in her voice. "The Bone Whistler is very weak currently. We have no time to waste."
There was another flash of light and Kies looked up to find that the witch had created a rift in front of them. It was the same one that he saw Fae come out of before. He had thought that it was his magic but apparently not. Kies remembered that Haro had told him and Ammine about what magic the witch used but he couldn't recall what it was. But he did know that it wasn't spatial magic. It looked like that a lot of people could use spatial magic despite it not being their main type of magic.
If that was the case, then wouldn't he be able to learn it as well? Haro tried teaching him a few spatial spells but whenever he couldn't cast them. They tried using incantations, arrays, and other forms of spatial magic, but none of them worked. Haro told him that he wasn't sure why he wasn't able to do it. And it didn't just apply to spatial magic. Apparently, he couldn't use any magic other than wind magic. But disappointments aside, his wind magic was far stronger than normal, at least it was according to Haro. He didn't know of anyone other than him and the owl who used wind magic so there wasn't anyone whom he could compare it to. Kies shook his head. He shouldn't be getting lost in his thoughts at this time.
"Uh, how are we supposed to go through it if it is there?" one of the werewolves asked. The rift was on top of the lake. They would have to swim to it but Kies had no idea how they would be able to enter it from under.
"Just walk to it." The witch walked across the water to the shore like she was walking on land instead. The werewolves looked at each other and then one of them hesitantly dipped his toe in the water and found out that he couldn't. He then put his entire foot on the water and saw that it couldn't go through the water. The rest of the werewolves then did the same with one of them being brave enough to step entirely out onto the water.
The werewolves looked at each other again before one of them said, "Our pack leader still hasn't recovered," while walking back to Bloodmane's side. "We won't fight until he is back up."
"Please, we do not have time for that," Fae told the werewolves. But they all shook their heads stubbornly. None of them were willing to fight without their leader.
