Kies caught up to the White White in a matter of seconds. He saw her flying ahead of him at the edge of his vision. It only took him another few seconds to completely catch up with her.
"You're much quicker than before," the White Witch commented as he passed her. Haro and Issie also caught up to the two. The owl slowed down and flew next to the witch.
"I have a bad feeling about this chase," Haro told her.
"What do you mean?"
"I can't describe it but I feel that they are either leading us to an ambush or drawing us away from the Bone Whistler. I don't sense anything around at all. The entire place is as empty as it can be, of course, minus us being here."
"Now that you mention it..." The witch abruptly stopped and started chanting a spell. The other three stopped as well and watched her. The winds that were following Kies immediately dispersed as if they had a will of their own and knew that they were no longer needed.
The White Witch created a puddle of some sort and placed it on the ground. Through it, they saw the two undead running swiftly through the forest. The puddle also showed the werewolves chasing after the two, slowly closing the distance between them.
"Hoot, is this Lake Maiden's Clairvoyance?" Haro asked.
"Indeed it is," the witch confirmed Haro's guess.
"I thought you primarily used curse magic. How are you able to use a spell such as clairvoyance?"
The witch laughed and told the owl, "I can't exactly curse my enemies if I cannot see them now can I?"
"Hoot, you do have a point. But that still doesn't answer my question."
"A lady has her secrets you know. Let's just say I wasn't always dead."
"Oh, of course. How can I forget? My apologies."
"Uh, sorry for interrupting your conversation, but shouldn't we be focusing on this?" Kies pointed at the small puddle of water on the ground. During the time that they were talking, Ammine and Fae had long already flown by, chasing after the werewolves and the two undead. It had only been a few seconds but Kies was pretty sure that they were already very far from the location that the pool was displaying.
The White Witch placed her hand just slightly above the pool and made it move to another place in the forest. There they saw the two undead running for their lives. "There they are..." The witch laughed softly and then began chanting something.
Just as the two undead were about to reach the edge of the pool's vision, the witch closed her hand on them and a purple mist began to swirl around them. The two were obviously confused as to where the mist came from and what it was and took caution to avoid it but it had already surrounded them. The mist closed in onto the two undead and they fell to the dirt, clawing at their chests.
"What did you do to them?" Kies asked the witch. "And also, if you could do this, was there really a point in us chasing them?"
"I placed a curse on them that drains their magic power. The Soulless has one major weakness and that is that we require magic in order for our bodies to function. I'm sure that you understand what I mean as you have the same weakness," the witch explained. "And as for why I didn't do this earlier, this magic is very costly. I need all the strength I can muster for the Bone Whistler. If necessary, I didn't want to waste it on them but it seems that I have no other choice."
The witch got up from the ground and dispelled the magic pool. "Now then, let's catch up with the others." She put out her hand with her palm facing upwards and stuck out her index finger. She then moved her hand up, drawing a vertical line with her finger, creating a rift. After she created a rift, the witch grabbed at the sides of it and tore it open, revealing the other side where the two undead were writhing in pain on the ground.
"Now, whatever shall we do with them?"
