Ancient Cavern V

"Oh, we couldn't figure out how to open it so this is the only other way that we can think of," the werewolf explained.

"Is there no way to open it normally?" Fae asked them.

"You could see for yourself." The werewolves handed the bag over to the undead who inspected it from various angles and was unable to find the opening.

"What in god's name..." Just like the werewolves, Fae began to pull and tug on the bag, trying to rip it open. But if the werewolves couldn't do it, of course, he couldn't either. Fae quickly gave up and decided to blast it with some magic instead only to find out that it had no effect on the bag either. "What is this bag made of!?"

"Hoot, I think that is made from dragonskin," said Haro. The owl flew over to the bag which was in Fae's hands and tried scratching it with his talons. "High-quality dragonskin at that."

"How did you get your hands on something like this?" Fae asked the werewolves.

"Don't know, we found it lying in the middle of this place," Bloodmane answered, pointing at a spot on the ground behind him to indicate the place where he found the bag.

"Ah, forget it. Let's get back to the main point. Did you find anything that can lead us to the Bone Whistler?" The werewolves all shook their heads in response to Fae's question.

"We searched this entire place and this was the only thing that we found. The rest of this place is entirely empty other than for a few bones and strange glowing rocks," said Bloodmane.

"What!?" Fae looked at the werewolves in disbelief and then started looking around the cave for himself. The entire place was illuminated by a few giant chunks of glowing stone like the werewolves had said and other than that and a few bones, there really wasn't anything else in here. "How could this be?" Fae double-checked the cave again, still not believing his eyes.

"I'm guessing that the other tunnel led you nowhere?" asked Bloodmane.

"We were met with a dead-end in the other tunnel as well," Haro told the werewolves. "The tunnel grew smaller as we continued down it to the point that even we couldn't continue going. It is very unlikely that the Bone Whistler went that way," the owl explained. The only explanation left was that the Bone Whistler wasn't in this cave anymore or maybe...

"I think we should go back to the intersection," Kies told everyone. Everyone looked at him, asking for an explanation as to why he wanted them to go back there.

"The cave was huge right?"

"Yes, it was," everyone agreed.

"What if the Bone Whistler didn't go through these tunnels, but rather, he went up?" Kies remembered that when they were at the intersection, he heard a strong wind blow from above, meaning that there was huge space above them. He was pretty sure that everyone else heard it too but no one really paid any attention to it as they were too distracted by the footprints suddenly disappearing right in front of them.

"I don't think- wait... you might actually be onto something." Fae rubbed his hand against his chin and thought about what Kies said for a moment. Seeing that they had no other explanation for where the Bone Whistler went, Kies's idea was plausible. "We don't have any other leads, and what you said may be possible. Your thoughts on this your excellency?" Fae turned to the witch and asked for her advice regarding what was said.

The witch nodded her head in approval of Kies's idea. "I definitely sense his presence somewhere in this cave. He is somewhere in here, and that is one place that we have yet to check." The witch opened up the rift back to the intersection and everyone quickly went through.

The werewolves also brought the dragon skin bag along with them. They almost left it behind because they thought that it was useless considering how none of them were able to open it but Haro convinced them to bring it along. He explained that there may be something useful in there and that even if they couldn't figure out how to open it right now, it could still be of use later on. The werewolves really didn't want to carry it so they challenged each other to some kind of a quick game where the loser would end up being the one that would have to take it.

Upon arriving at the other side of the rift, the first thing that everyone did was to look up. "I don't see anything up there," said one of the werewolves. Despite being able to see in the dark, the werewolves had trouble seeing whatever was above them.

"Should I fly up and take a look?" Haro suggested.

"There's no need for that," said the witch. She created another ball of light, separate from the one that was illuminating the area around them, and sent it directly up. The ball of light traveled for a while before reaching the top, to reveal the Bone Whistler's massive body and head staring right down at them.
