None of them expected to see the Bone Whistler buried inside the rocks dangling above them, so naturally, they were all taken aback by the sudden discovery.
The Bone Whistler, having been found, let out a loud screech from the holes in his skull and the cave started to shake. Rocks and boulders fell from the ceiling as the giant monster broke free from the stones that were holding him to the ceiling and he dropped down onto the group.
"Everyone, back!" Fae shouted out. Everyone retreated to the safety of the tunnels to avoid being flattened by the rocks and the Bone Whistler as the entire ceiling above them came crashing down.
"URK!" A sword sprouted out from the chest of the werewolf that was standing furthest in the back. The werewolf grabbed the blade with his arms, struggling to push it out. Behind the werewolf was a familiar masked undead wielding a sword.
"Watch your surroundings, won't you," the undead said tauntingly. They couldn't see his face behind the mask, but they were all sure that he was smiling as he spoke to them.
"You bastard!" Bloodmane leaped up into the air and down onto the undead, swiping at him with his claws but the nimble swordsman quickly jumped out of the way. The werewolf who got stabbed fell to the ground, holding his chest where the wound was and coughing out blood. The other werewolves immediately rushed over to help out their injured brother, moving him a bit back before surrounding him with their bodies to shield him from any further attacks while one of them tended to the wound.
Bloodmane, fueled by rage, charged at the undead and slashed at him with his claws but couldn't land a hit. Lisler was too fast for him and for every few strikes the werewolf tried landing on him, he struck back, leaving several nasty cuts on the werewolf's body. After a short bout, the two backed away from each other. Lisler jumped through the air and landed beside the Bone Whistler. Bloodmane had not landed a single hit on the undead while receiving many in return as well.
"Quickly, before the Bone Whistler gets up!" Fae yelled out. He pointed at the Bone Whistler who was trying to get himself up from the ground after having fallen from the ceiling.
The White Witch hastily chanted a spell and the thorny vines grew from her arms and flew towards the giant monster. But just as the vines were about to reach the Bone Whistler, a large boulder came from out of nowhere and smashed the vines before they were about to wrap themselves around the Bone Whistler. The witch tried several more times but all of her attacks were stopped. Kies also joined in and shot jets of winds at the Bone Whistler but most of them were intercepted by stones. The few that did manage to get through were all block by Lisler, who parried every single one with his sword.
From behind the boney monster appeared the lady and another person that they had not seen before. He or she was wearing a hood and was carrying a book in their hands. Without a doubt, they all instantly identified this new person as the mysterious earth magic user that had been helping the Bone Whistler.
"You there," Fae called out to the mysterious earth user. "What's your identity and why are you helping the Bone Whistler?" The mage did not say anything but did, however, raise their hand up in response. They started to move their mouth and the group quickly prepared themselves since they knew that something was coming.
Haro and the witch quickly raised a barrier between them and the enemy and not a moment too soon either. The moment the two barriers went up, a wave of stones was launched into them. The first barrier, Haro's, held for a brief moment but was very quickly overwhelmed by the sheer number of rocks being thrown into it. The second barrier, belonging to the witch, managed to hold out against the attack, blocking every single rock to the last before falling as well.
All of this happened very suddenly, and if it were not for Haro and the witch promptly responding in time to the attack, all of them would have been bombarded by the torrent of stones. It was very clear and apparent that the mysterious mage was not interested in answering Fae's questions or even talking to them.
"Why you!" Fae shouted at the mage, furious at them for attacking them without giving so much as a warning.
"Forget about talking, let's fight already," said Bloodmane. The other werewolves growled in agreement. They were all itching for a fight, especially after what the enemy did to their comrade. Bloodmane pointed at Lisler and then back at himself. Without even having to say a word, the undead knew what the werewolf wanted and accepted his challenge. He pointed his blade at the tunnel to their side which was still rather empty despite the ceiling having collapsed over it.
The two of them silently left the safety of their groups and walked over to the tunnel. Not a moment after the two separated themselves did they start fighting.
"It looks like the rest of us should get started as well," Haro hooted after seeing the two trade a few blows with each other. The rest of them got ready to fight as well and rushed forward.
