To Silverfield II

Kies was the last to enter through the door right behind Ammine and as he came out the other side, he was blinded by the light. The throne room was dark and his eyes weren't prepared for the sudden change in brightness.

"We all made it through safely, that's a good start," Falte said as he looked around at their surroundings. "By the way, where the h*ll are we, do any of you know?" he looked back at the three. They were in a forest of some sort. Everything was foggy and they couldn't see much more than a few feet in every direction. Kies knew exactly where they were.

"Kies?" Ammine asked him as he was the one who knew this place the best.

"Soft Mist Forest," he answered. "Silverfield should be very close by when we exit this place."

"Alright, let's go then."

But before the four of them could start moving, Jasyeu started to shout urgently in old Demonic about something. Ammine and Falte looked at the small demon and listened to her as she told them whatever was concerning her.

"Really now..." Falte reached for his dagger and unsheathed it. Kies immediately went on alert, seeing that something was wrong.

"What's going on?" he asked the two, not understanding a single thing that Jasyeu said.

"We're surrounded." Ammine's fists flared up with magic and she looked around, trying to locate where the enemies were.

"What are we surrounded by?" It was very unlikely that it would be humans since no one really went outside of the kingdom at all because of the war. Unless the war had already ended between Silverfield and Otane and that people were free to enter and leave the kingdom now that is. But with the threat of demons attacking at any random moment, Kies doubted that any of them would go outside.

"They're not one of us, get them!" a voice screamed from somewhere in the fog. Arrows flew from the fog and hit the ground around them. Surprisingly, none of them hit, but considering how hard it was to see through this fog, it was probably expected.

"Hey! Watch where yer shootin. Ya almost put an arrow in my tail! Hey! Are you listening! Agh! You almost shot my ear off! Are you guys tryin to kill me!?" Another voice shouted out in the fog.

"You idiots, stop shooting arrows and run up to them! Huh!? Ouch! Whose side are you bloody on!? Stop firing you dimwits! Just charge at them!" an angry voice yelled.

Within seconds, several people appeared from within the fog and charged at them with weapons raised. "Die sc*m!" Two enemies went for Kies while the rest went for the other three. Kies slashed in front of him with his arm, shooting out a blade of wind at the two enemies approaching him. The wind blade was wide enough to hit both of them and made them stumble back.

"Ouch! We have a magic-user here!" one of the men shouted after getting hit by Kies' attack.

"Get him first!" another voice responded from the fog. Three more people rushed out and joined the other two. All five of them then spread out and attacked Kies from all sides. It was hard to keep track of all of them because of the fog. He couldn't even see who the attackers were, but he saw a glimpse of one as they ran through the trees and Kies could've sworn that he saw something long and fuzzy.

"Die!" Without Kies realizing it, one of the enemies had already made their way to him and swung something at Kies. He ducked and saw a long wooden stick fly by above his head. Kies threw his arm out and pressed his hand against the attacker's stomach and let out a blast of wind, sending them flying back into a tree.

"Gah! Get him boys!" The first attacker brought time for the other four to reach Kies. Like he did to the other one, Kies blasted each of the attackers away one by one with the wind as they reached him. While blasting the last one away, he saw a blur of something long and fuzzy again fly by his eyes. He wasn't imagining things. They weren't fighting against humans.

"Ammine!" Kies searched around the mist for the three demons but couldn't find them. It was too hard to see. But luckily, he could hear sounds of fighting not too far away from him and he ran in that direction until he found Falte. His dagger was stained with blood, but only a little. It looked like he had only injured and not killed an enemy. That was good.

"Hey!" Kies shouted out to Falte who mistook him for an enemy and almost sliced his head off.

"What are you doing!? I almost killed you because you ran up to me like that!"

"Uh sorry, but that's not important right now. We need to stop the fight," Kies told the demon.

"Huh?" The demon gave Kies a puzzled look. "Why?"

"They're not human. I think they're beastmen." Kies explained to Falte how he saw something long and fuzzy several times, which were probably tails. In addition, when he pressed his hands against their bodies to blast them away, he felt something soft and furry.

"I see..." Falte held his weapon tightly and looked around the forest for the other two. They saw a purple flash from somewhere in the mist and immediately knew that it was Ammine.

"Hey Ammine!" Falte shouted at the top of his lungs in the direction of the purple magic.

It took a few seconds for her to respond, but she answered back to them with an angry, "What!?"

"They're beastmen!" Falte told her.

"What!?" Ammine appeared in front of them from the mist with Jasyeu by her side. "Wait, now that you mention it, I was wondering why I felt something soft whenever I punched or kicked one of them."

"They're all here! Get them!" a voice yelled from behind Ammine. Several figures surrounded and charged at them with weapons.

"Hey, we're demons, not humans!" Ammine shouted at the figures as they were running at them.

The attackers stopped in their tracks, but only for a short moment. "Lies! You've got no horns nor wings!" They charged at Kies and the rest but were pushed back when a giant slab of dirt shot up from the ground and blocked their paths.

"Gah, they have another mage!" one of the attackers informed the rest.

"Wait, doesn't that mean all four of them are mages!?" one of them asked.

"Are they knights then!?" another one asked. "Ah whatever, just get them! We outnumber them by a bunch!"

Following the order, the attackers jumped over the wall that Jasyeu made and continued their assault.

"Yep, they're definitely beastmen. Last time I checked, humans don't jump that high," Ammine commented after seeing the attackers jump several feet up in the air to get over the wall. "The question is how do we convince them that we're demons and not humans? Well, three demons and an Aeos."

"Should I dispel our disguises?" Falte suggested.

"Nah, that would take too long. We need something else-" Ammine was interrupted by one of the beastmen swinging a weapon at her. She snatched the weapon right out of their hands and kicked them away.

Ammine looked at the weapon that was used to attack her and saw that it was just a piece of wood. After looking at it for a second, she smiled and said, "Actually, I got an idea."
