The night passed by fairly quickly, the main reason being that they had spent half of it getting into the city and breaking into the dungeon to get Messa out. The sun rose up into the sky, blinding Kies as he looked up at it. Everyone was still sleeping, and he thought that it would be a good idea to not wake any of them up as they had only slept for a few hours and that they should get more.
While they were sleeping, Kies had explored the entire slum and found that it was empty and that there was not a single soul here other than them. After finding that out, Kies saw that there was really no need for him to guard the place and so spent the rest of his time looking around the slums to see if he could find anything of use or value. As expected, at the end of his search, he ended up with nothing.
By now, it was already around mid-afternoon, and Kies went back to the houses where everyone was resting. There, he found out that everyone was still sleeping. It was probably a good time to wake them, and so he did. Kies first knocked on the half-broken door of the house that Falte and Jasyeu were in, waking both of them up almost instantly. They both groggily got up and looked around, looking like they had no idea what was going on or who they even were.
"Ah, it's already this late. Why didn't you wake me up earlier?" Falte grumpily said after he regained his senses. He put his hand over his eyes to cover them from the sun when he exited the small hut as they had yet to adjust to the brightness. He walked across to the other house where Ammine and Messa were in and knocked on the door.
A few seconds later, Ammine slammed the door open and looked murderously at the person who woke up. "Don't give me that look. It's already noon," Falte told Ammine in an irritable tone. She wasn't the only one who was still tired and wanted to go back to sleep.
"Oh, it is." Ammine just saw how late it was. "Well, I guess we should start on our mission then," she said while stretching her body. "What's the plan? Where are we going first?" she asked.
"That is what we are going to figure out right now," Falte told her.
"Alright, but before we decide that, we first need to figure out who is going to stay here and watch over Messa."
"Are you sure that is necessary? It doesn't look like anyone comes by here," Falte pointed out. He was pretty sure that Messa would be fine on her own but Ammine didn't agree.
"She's still injured, she needs someone to take care of her right now." She then proceeded to give another few other reasons why one of them should stay. "Plus, we would attract more attention if we move as a big group and it's not like we need everyone to go in the first place. Can't hurt to have one person stay here in case something does happen while we're away," she reasoned with Falte.
The demon didn't look like he liked the idea, but agreed with her anyway. "I take it that you will be the one looking after her?" Falte asked her. Ammine was the one who knew Messa the best, so it made sense for her to be the one to stay with her. "I'm terrible with people, Kies is not a choice since he knows this place unlike us, and Jasyeu doesn't like anyone that isn't you." From that, Falte concluded that Ammine was the only one that could stay behind.
"I was actually thinking of having Jasyeu stay behind, but I'm fine with that too," Ammine accepted Falte's decision.
"Wait, why her?"
"Reasons." Ammine didn't want to bother explaining her thought process behind why she wanted to choose Jasyeu instead of herself. "Anyway, shouldn't you guys get going as soon as possible?" she asked. That was their mission and Falte was the one who was always bugging the rest of them about it.
"Well, we have to lay low for a little bit because of a certain event that took place last night," Falte reminded her. They couldn't really move around freely as of right now because there were likely soldiers storming the streets. They needed to figure something out first.
"Why don't I just get some food first and scout the place, then we decide on what to do after?" Kies proposed to the two who both didn't look like they were in a good mood. He couldn't tell if it was because they didn't get enough sleep or if it was something else.
Ammine and Falte looked at each other and nodded their heads silently. "I guess we can do that first," Ammine said.
"Yeah, we need some information before we can move. Check if any of our identities were compromised and see how many soldiers are around. Once we know that information, we can figure out something," Falte agreed.
