Underworldly Dealings VI

A hand popped out of the bag, followed by the other hand. Well, technically, they weren't hands but rather paws. A pair of paws came out of the bag and then two horns appeared right after them. It took some time but the creature eventually got its entire body out. Its shiny red scales reflected the sunlight, giving it a shiny appearance. It had a snout and a pair of wings which both were tied up by a thin yet strong rope.

Kies didn't need to take a moment to think or wonder to figure out what the creature was. Anyone's first guess even if they haven't seen this beast before would be a dragon. There was no way it could have been anything else.

Immediately after getting out of the bag, the dragon looked around at its surroundings to figure out where it was. Its eyes met with Kies' and froze. Kies locked eyes with the dragon for a few seconds before it suddenly turned and sprinted out of the bag and disappeared behind a building.

That was interesting... Kies didn't know how to react. Who were those people from before? How did they manage to get their hands on a dragon and what were they planning to do with it? Kies had probably just foiled their plans and they were not happy. But whatever was going on, Kies didn't want to get involved with it any further. He was pretty sure that the dragon would be able to free itself from those ropes and fly away.

Kies left the empty sack and rope lying on the ground and left the scene before the traffickers caught up to him. He headed back into the slums and found the four demons still at the house. For some reason, Ammine and Falte were still arguing with each other regarding who wore what. But when they saw that Kies had returned, they stopped and asked him where he went.

"What did you leave for?"

"I was just taking a walk around the city."

"Is that so? Well, I'm not against it but try not to do that too much. We don't want to attract attention so ideally, we want to go into town as little as possible and only when it's necessary," Falte told him.

"Don't worry, nothing happened," Kies assured him.

"Yeah, I hope nothing happened. Anyway, you were out for quite some time. Did you come across anything?" Falte asked. He was referring to if Kies had found anything useful such as information or anything else that might be of help to their mission.

"I... Uh... found a dragon," Kies told them.

"A dragon?" The demons all perked up and turned their attention to Kies. Well, everyone but Jasyeu, who was playing with the rocks on the floor and trying to build a tower. It was a lot taller than what she could make before so she definitely improved a lot.

"Is it the same one we fought with yesterday when we were the sewers?"

"No, it is a different one." Kies described the red dragon to the three, telling them how he came across it, the group of people who were carrying it, and lastly how he freed it. "I think it might also be a child since it was small," Kies held his hands out to show them the approximate size of the dragon.

"Yeah, that sounds like a young dragon alright. Probably just hatched or something," Falte hypothesized after looking at how big the dragon was.

"And now we know what that other dragon is doing here," Ammine said.

"Hm? Why is he here?" Kies asked.

"Think back to the story you just told us," she answered, leaving Kies to figure it out by himself.

Kies did what Ammine said and thought about what he just told them. There were a bunch of unknown people dressed in suspicious outfits and carrying a baby dragon around. From how they were acting, it was being done in secret. It was easy to guess what the dragon from yesterday was doing here with that information.

"He's here to find that baby dragon?" Kies concluded. Everything pointed at that. But if that was the case, then didn't that mean that there was the chance that there might be more dragons lurking around here. Kies doubted that there would only be one here if they were trying to find and retrieve one of their own kinds in a place as big as this.

"Looks like I need to send another report tonight," Falte said in an annoyed voice as he got up from his seat on the only stool in the room. As he walked out of the room he said, "I have a bad feeling about this. We better get ready to bail out of here soon."

"What? Why?" Kies asked concernedly.

Falte looked back at Kies and explained to him, "There are dragons here. That means that something big might happen soon. You know, like the entire kingdom getting wiped off the map."

"But why would that happen?" Kies still didn't understand what Falte was getting at. Why would the kingdom get wiped off the map? Why would the dragons do that?" Wait... "Oh...."
