Underworldly Dealings VII

It was dark now and Kies was sitting on top of the roof of one of the houses and looking up at the sky. Falte had just finished delivering a report back to Tornon and received their new cloaks alongside more supplies. Apparently, all of this was done via Fuusha's portal magic. Since creating a portal at long distances was pricey, it could only be done once a day for just a couple of seconds. Everything was to be exchanged through the portal within this short amount of time.

Normally, Kies would be training around or walking around during this time but he wasn't in the best of moods today. Tornon had been there when the portal was open today and Falte quickly explained their situation to him instead of delivering his usual report. It was amazing how fast he can convey a message as the report didn't even take three seconds. In turn, they got an immediate response and a change to their orders.

Now instead of finding information about the new king and his aides, they were to be on standby and observe what happened for the next few days. It was deemed too risky to have them continue their previous mission because of dragon activity in the place. All they needed to do was to wait and see if anything happens in Silverfield. If anything did happen that was somewhere along the lines of the entire place getting raided by dragons, they were to get out of here as fast as they could.

What it basically meant was that they no longer had anything to do and Kies could use this entire time to find out about his past. He should have been extremely happy about this and he would have if it weren't for what just happened. Just an hour ago, a couple of soldiers came through the slums and they had to hide and wait for them to leave. It seemed that the king was catching onto the fact that there was a lot of suspicious activity and dangerous things going on in Silverfield and was sending soldiers everywhere to investigate.

They almost got caught by the soldiers because Falte sneezed. Everyone almost had heart attacks and Falte was just about to fly out and kill all the soldiers but was luckily stopped by Ammine. The soldiers heard his sneeze but mistook it for an old house falling apart because of the wind or so they heard as they walked by them. Had Falte killed the soldiers, they would have been in trouble as more soldiers would have been sent to the slums to figure out why the previous ones went missing and didn't return.

Because of this, it was decided that no one is allowed to leave the slums for some time. Until things calmed down, it was too dangerous to go back into town unless it was for food and water. And even then, they were to get what they needed to come straight back as soon as possible. Furthermore, it was also decided that Kies wouldn't be sent anymore. The reason was that if he went, he would have to wear a cloth over his mouth which would make him look suspicious. And if he didn't wear it, people might recognize him. Because of this, the demons decided to have Falte go into town with his disguise magic whenever they needed anything.

And what this all meant was that Kies wouldn't be able to go back to the graveyard and try to find that girl who was his sister anymore. As much as he wanted to just leave right now and sneak away while it was still dark, there was really no point. What was he going to do when he found her? Was he going to try to relive the life that he had before? His memory was failing him and he was already considered dead here.

"Hey Arc."

The bracelet lit up and Arc responded to his call. "What is it?"

"Have you found the reason why memory is worsening?"

It has been more than a week now that Kies explained his problem to Arc. Surely Arc would have found the cause or at least have somewhat of a clue.

"I am still searching. But if it makes you feel better, I did find three more spells for you to learn, but you do not have the power to use any of them yet."

"How is that supposed to make me feel any better then?" Kies could learn the spells but if he couldn't use them then there wasn't really a point. But he was a little curious what kind of spells they were. From what Arc said, it was beyond his abilities to even cast them which meant that they were on a whole different level compared to the current spells he knew. "Well, what are they anyway?" Learning them now wouldn't hurt. It could be useful in the future when he had enough magic to use them.

A screen flashed in front of his face and Kies waited for everything to translate before reading it. "Wind Nova, Fury of the Winds, and Sky's Last Breath." All three spells sounded very powerful and he couldn't figure out what any of them did base on their names alone.

"In the simplest terms, Wind Nova sucks everything in and explodes. Fury of the Winds creates hundreds of tornadoes. Sky's Last Breath summons thousands of wind spirits," Arc explained. Each spell sounded more ridiculous than the previous.

"Just how much magic do I need to cast one of these spells?" Kies asked. He couldn't imagine how much it cost to cast any one of these spells.

"You will eventually be able to use them given enough time. I will not show you the chants right now as you are not strong enough but once you are, I will reveal them to you."
