Burial Of Ice

"Incredible... They have actually managed to take that thing down." Ammine was observing the fight on top of a house with her magic-enhanced eyes and watched everything unfold. "Who is that woman?" She brought the dragon down by calling down a bunch of what looked like icy meteors from the sky and bombarded the dragon with them. The amount of magic power required to do something like that was unreal.

Ammine wasn't sure if she was even a human. In the first place, were humans even able to use something like ice magic. She was pretty sure the answer was no. Ammine slid down the roof and landed right next to all the other demons.

"So, what did you see?" Falte asked her as she dropped down. The rest of them couldn't see that far so they had to rely on Ammine to tell them about what she saw. "What were those giant blue things falling from the sky?"

"They were giant chunks of ice."

"What? So it was someone's magic?"

"Yes."

"Who?"

"Not sure. It might be a human, it might not be."

Falte raised an eyebrow at what Ammine said. "Very... informative..." So which one was it? Were they human or were they something else?

"It doesn't matter what they are. They're an enemy as long as they stand by the humans."

"That's reasonable."

"Anyway, when are we leaving?" Ammine asked Falte. Their time here in Silverfield was up and their mission was ending early. It was too dangerous for them to stay here any longer.

"I have the time and location here," Falte took out a piece of folded paper and tossed it to Ammine for her to see. Written on it is the location of where they needed to be, and the time they needed to be there by.

"Isn't this quite far?" she asked while looking at the location. This was outside of Silverfield. It was the forest that they first arrived at when they came through the portal.

"It shouldn't be that hard to get there. I mean, it's not like we need to be careful when leaving. We just need to get out as fast as possible, right?" They could just have Ammine fly everyone out. "Wait... never mind." Out of the five of them, only two of them could fly. Out of the other three, two lost their wings and the last one was unconscious. Falte wasn't sure they would be able to carry all three of them out at the same time. They will have to think of something else.

"Hmm... " But maybe it was still possible to do it since the army was busy with the dragon. Speaking of which... "How's the battle looking like so far? Let me guess, it's a one-sided slaughter against the humans." Falte smiled when he thought about all the humans struggling to even harm the dragon but couldn't and just died without being able to do anything.

"The dragon is losing."

"What!?" Falte looked at Ammine like she was crazy. "Did I hear that right? The dragon is losing!?"

"Yes." Fate did indeed hear that right. "It got hit by those ice meteors and took a lot of damage from them." When she last saw the dragon, it had been inside a hole buried under a bunch of ice. If she didn't know better, she would have guessed that the dragon was dead. "It also wasn't moving."

"Wait, does that mean they actually killed that thing!?"

"Not sure." She couldn't say for sure, but it was a possibility. There was also the possibility that the dragon was just unconscious or playing dead. But it was safe to assume that it was dead.

"Who took it down then?"

"Some woman that was dressed differently from the rest of the soldiers. It could be their captain or something close." There was also another person dressed just like her and he was decently strong too. Ammine also informed them of this. "There's another person who had the same clothes as her and he held off the dragon for a good amount of time."

"So there are two potential threats!?"

"Potential? I'd say that they're actual threats," Ammine corrected Falte. She knew for sure that she wouldn't be able to take either of them out in a one-on-one. They were both beyond her level. They took care of the dragon which she and Falte couldn't even harm. Wait... They couldn't even harm the dragon. She remembered Falte saying something about the person they met only being part of the dragon's body.

"Hey, any chance that the dragon they killed was just a part of him or something." Ammine had no idea how it worked but dragons were mythical beasts. There was no way one would fall that easily. Those comets that came from the sky were powerful, but Ammine was confident that she could take at least two of them with her armor before it broke. How was it that the dragon couldn't even take one without sustaining any damage?

"Now that you've mentioned it, that dragon was rather small for an adult."

"That is considered small?" Messa raised an eyebrow, shocked by what Falte said.

"Yes, grown dragons are much bigger than that," Falte answered. "At most, I'd say that the dragon we're looking at is only a couple of hundred years old. The one we met looked like it was in its thousands." As for how he knew that, none of them knew.

"And you're sure of this?" Ammine asked if he was absolutely certain.

"Yes, I'm positive."

"That means..."

*Roar!* The ground shook from the mighty warcry of a beast. It sounded extremely angry.

Ammine flew back up onto the roof and looked up. But she didn't even need to go up there to see it. There was a dragon almost a fifth of the size of the entire kingdom flying in the air. With every flap of its wings, it sent winds so powerful that they blew away entire houses and buildings.

Ammine was speechless at what she saw. The rest of the demons were also stunned. The roar frightened Jasyeu and she was holding onto Messa for comfort. Silverfield was done for. There was zero chance that they would survive this.
