Each of them looked at each other for a few moments, as it was clear that they were both quite confused as to what it was that she had meant by that. I knew that both of them were smart dragons, so it had surprised me that they had not seen this coming for a while.
I looked at Socra who had her eyes, and her face turned away from me. As she had been doing to me for the last couple of days as well. I wondered if she had a different meaning on what she had just said to them, a meaning that I could not quite grasp.
I shivered, and I was beginning to get a bit worried at the same time as well. Was I not going to be a part of this so called important meeting? Was she handing over the roles of deputy to another dragon? I looked at her for a few moments, and then I looked away with my head turned to the ground as well.
No one else seemed to notice, as their eyes were all clearly pointed towards Socras at the exact moment. I was glad that they could not see the look on my face, and I was glad that they did not know that I had lied to Socra. It was not a good thing for a dragon to lie to another dragon.
A lot of times you could be kicked out of your tribe, and if you were luckily one of those dragons that were not, than all of the other dragons would look down on you with shame for a very long time. It was not the first time that I had lied to her either.
I shook my head, trying to clear out all of those thoughts from amongst my head in the same instance, as I looked over to Kip who began speaking up to his deputy. He had a calm voice, and he did not at all seem frightened with the fact that he was talking to our deputy either.
He knew why she was here as well, at least that was as far as I was guessing. I was here, and she had come to follow me. She had come here to tell them that there was an important meeting that they needed to be ready for. But that was not the main reason that she was here for.
I now began to calm my sense as I realized that the main reason she had come here was for me. I looked at her for a few moments, as I came to that realization, and then I nodded back to her. She looked back to me, and she surprisingly nodded back to me.
I say surprisingly for 2 reasons in the first place. The first reason was because I knew that she was quite a bit upset at me, but the second reason was the one that confused me a bit. Surely there was no way she had seen me nod to her right? It just had to be perfect timing for some reason.
I kept my eyes, and ears all towards Kip as I remembered that he had began talking, and I did not want to miss a single word that he had to say to Socra. This was the most important times in the tribe, and it was very early in my life. It scared me quite a bit in fact.
"We will all be there for it, and I suppose you are here to take Jangra... I wish you 2 the best of luck, and I hope that you guys have a plan for all of this." He said back to her. She looked at him for a few moments, as I could tell that she had a bit of a surprised look on her face as well.
It confused me as to why she was so surprised in the first place. She could not have made it any more obvious as to what it was that she had come for in the first place. Surely she knew that we were not the only smart dragons that were in our tribe, right?
I looked back at her, as she did her best to hide that from her face at the same time as well, they did not seem to notice it either. She then lowered her head to the ground, and she then nodded to them, as she began to speak up to the both of them.
"Lunk, you will need to be ready to fight, and I hope the dragon that you are mentoring as well will be. Kip, you are smarter and stronger than I thought, I should have never doubted you and your kin, your parents were brave, and they saved many lives." She said to the both of them. It lit up both of their faces as I noticed right away.
I needed to learn that trait from her for sure if I was ever going to be the leader of this tribe. She always seemed to make a sad dragon feel a bit happy. Kip smiled and he looked up at the sky, as if he were speaking to his parents right now.
Maybe he was for all I know, it would not surprise me. I believed in an after life for sure now, and I hoped once I was the leader, many other dragons would soon realize that there was one as well. Lunk looked at his friend and he smiled back at him as well, happy to see him happy.
After a few more moments, he then looked back over at Socra, as she also had a smile on her face as well. It made the room light up a bit, as it also seemed to calm me down to see all of them like this too. I was not just stressed out as I found out that I was going to be deputy already, but I was stressed out to see all of the dragons in the tribe looking like this.
Lunk looked back up at Socra, as he then nodded to her. She looked at him and then she nodded back to him as well. Lunk looked her dead in the eyes for a few moments, and then he finally decided to speak up one last time to clear any other thing that was still drifting through the air.
"Well... I suppose you are here to take Jangra to a private meeting. I thank you for stepping in for our leader while he is still grieving, your help is very much appreciated, even back in the past before I was born." He said to her. Socra looked at him for a few moments and then she nodded to him.
She kind of shrugged off the big complement that he had just said to her, but neither of them seemed to be too worried about it right now. She sat there for a few moments, and she finally turned her head over to me after that time.
It was the first time that she had actually looked at me like that for a few days. It was not a happy look at all, but at least it did not look like she was upset or as if she did not know what to think about me. It made me feel a bit better as well.
Kip and Lunk then turned their heads over to me, as they realized that Socra was about to speak up to me in front of them as well. It started to get me a bit nervous as well, but I shook in off at the same time as I focused my eyes and ears on Socra as she then began to speak to me, also turning her head towards Lunk a bit at the first part that she was saying.
"Yes Lunk... I thank you for that, and I am proud of all of you for stepping up when you were much needed. Lunk your job will be the busiest... Now Jangra, you come with me." She said to him, and then she said at the last part meant towards me.
I saw that all 3 of us were a bit confused as I could tell it seemed that she had a bit of a deeper meaning than just fighting. She had meant something completely different than that for sure. I shook my head as I realized what she had said at the last part as well.
She was looking at me, as I could tell at the same time, that she was waiting for me to follow her too. I looked at her for a few moments, and then I nodded to her as I came to comprehend what it was that she was getting at. Before we had the tribal meeting, we first had to have a private meeting before all of that came into place.
I already knew what it was that it was going to be about, but I am sure as well that there were going to be quite a bit of things added to it at the same time as well. She nodded to me to follow her to the smaller cave that she normally met my faceless father at.
I nodded back to her, and then I looked at my other 2 friends and I nodded back to them as well, a bit sad that I did not get as much time as I had wanted, to catch up on what life had been like for the both of them. I looked away though, and I shook my head as I began to follow Socra.
I looked back at my friends, as they had their heads to the ground as well. They must be thinking about all that was about to possibly go on in the tribe. They hardly knew anything that was about to happen... There had been gestures of this happening for quite some time however.
Hell... I did not even know what was about to happen. Socra really had not gone that deep into it with me. All I knew was that my father was handing leader over to her. It was a smart call, and at least my father knew that he was broken, and was no longer able to lead the tribe.
My friends did not notice me staring at them, but they began to talk to each other as if nothing had just happened. I looked away, at least they were not as worried as I was about all of this. I was so young, to even have to role as a deputy of this tribe, it just seemed crazy to me as well.
I had to figure that I was not going to be the deputy for very long. That did not mean that I was doing anything wrong, I just knew that Socra, before all of this had happened in the first place, was originally going to train my for those 5 years, and after that she was going to pass along the role as deputy.
Maybe that was going to change, now that she was about to be the leader of the tribe. At least that was what I had hoped, because I had no clue in my first mind of how to lead a tribe. Me and Socra had not gotten that deep into our training quite yet.
I also knew as well, that Socra was not as strong as she once was. She was over 600 years old now, I felt bad for her to have all of this stress on her right now. My father was her best friend, not just a leader for her. She was too old to be doing all of this.
It had to be done though, and she was smart enough to know that my father could not lead, because it would lead to the end of the tribe, and she also knew that I could not lead yet, because I had no clue in my right mind, of how to possibly lead the tribe in the first place.
I looked away from my friends, as I turned my head to where it was that Socra was taking me in the first place. I looked at the small, and very dark cave that was in front of me. It kind of gave me chills each time I walked into this cave as well.
Something seemed a bit strange about this cave to me, and I was not quite sure if it was a good, or whether it were a bad thing. As I looked around the dark cave, a small drip of water fell on to the top side of my back. I jumped up a bit surprised, and a bit scared at the same time as well.
I was glad that Socra had not seen that from me either, it was quite a bit embarrassing at the same time. I kept on walking into the cave a bit deeper with Socra. It seemed like it was a small cave if you just saw it from the outside, but the inside of the cave seemed to be endless.
Socra stopped right in front of me, and I stopped myself as well as I nearly crashed right into her. Luckily I had seen her stop, even though it was super dark in the room, it was even hard to see with the good night time vision that red dragons had in the first place.
I looked around at the corner of the room, as I suddenly heard the footsteps of another dragon in the room with me at the same time. I moved back a bit scared, a lot of that due to the fact that my father had told me not to ever trust a dragon, no matter how close they were to you.
A part of me was telling me it was a trap even though I knew that Socra would never do that to me. I squinted my eyes to see the dragon that was in the corner in the first place, and I nodded as I saw that it was just my father. He saw me nod to him, and then he nodded back to me, before he began to speak.
"Socra... Are you ready? Its time..."
