"Good. Let's go. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes." Gil beamed, his bright eyes flicking from her to Ty, his expression rife with awkward interest.

With a quick nod and a lingering gaze, Ty turned and left Mari standing on the walkway.

"That was a little too easy. Since when do you pass up the chance to shoot whiskey with the boys? You're up to something," Perez accused.

I don't do whiskey shots, and I am trying to get my hands on a gun. I can't kill Espada without one.

"Were you just going to visit the local Gander Mountain or perhaps borrow one from Ty or one of his ranch hands?" Perez asked, a snarky tone coloring his words.

She ignored the first part of his comment. No, I don't want to raise suspicions, and I certainly don't want to get Ty or his men mixed up in our plan. I start asking around for a gun, Ty starts poking his nose where it doesn't belong, and then I'm stuck with an over-protective rancher with a death wish.
