Chapter 59

"What are you doing?" Halo yelled, reaching for my hand.

"Stop! Just keep eating your food," I put my hand underneath the other side of the bar, searching. I came across a small pistol taped to the wood. I ripped it off, brought the pistol to me.

"Is it loaded?"

June's aged, spotted hands quivered uncontrollably. Too afraid to move, think or speak. I pointed the pistol at her.

"IS IT LOADED?"

"YES!"

I stuffed the pistol in my pocket.

"Let me just eat the rest of this, and I'll leave. I know you're going to call the enforcers. But give us a head start. One hour...that's all I ask."

She nodded her head slowly.

"Put your arms down."

She listened, and let her tears flow. Halo became angry, watching how I was treating June. Her eyes narrowed, and she stabbed her syrup drenched fork right into my thigh. I yelped, as June made a run for it towards the back of the kitchen.

"WHY DO YOU HAVE TO RUIN EVERYTHING?" Halo screamed at me.
