Chapter 22

"Have you always lived here on Cobb Hill?" she asked.

"Yep. I was born right here in this house. My granny delivered me in the master bedroom. She did the same for my brother and sister, too." He didn‘t mention that when grandpa died he had been laid out right in the middle of the living room in his casket. By the time that his parents had passed away they had done things at a funeral home and granny had fussed about it until she was allowed to tend to the bodies.

The food didn‘t take much time to cook and when it was done they ate at the picnic table.

They talked but not as much about Estill County as they talked about themselves. Riley learned that Stella was a teacher at Adam‘s school where Adam was being taught how to speak Japanese. They, in turn, learned that Riley had gone to Eastern State University to play college football but had left after a knee injury.
