Chapter 26: Oliver Twist

Bill and I went back to his house, and he had me call the investment broker. Once the broker knew that I wanted the same investments as Bill did, things went swiftly. Bill told me that Macintosh wouldn't be open for public trading until later this decade but that there were some good local stocks to invest in such as Proctor and Gamble and various department stores. The paperwork was faxed to Bill, who transferred the funds after I had signed and returned them, forging my mother's signature where needed.

"Are you sure that you want to do this?" I asked. "This is a lot of money."

"A couple of thousand is just a drop in the bucket compared to how rich we'll be." He changed the subject. "So how was your day?"

"It sucked. Did you ever see that movie Mean Girls?"

He gave me a surprised look. "Are you saying that you are being bullied at school?"
