Chapter 52

He called lightning from the sky! My friends, they're gone! The enemy has something evil on their side!

"EYES UP, PEOPLE," Pyra said, striding back and forth before her ever-growing gang. "No slacking today."

Pyra wrinkled her nose at the Arena's stale air, no doubt a result of the old and yellowing air filters in the cavernous room's vents. The once-white paneling covering the floor and walls was equal parts gray and black, with odd spots of brown dotting the surface, denoting dried blood.

I wonder if any of those spots are mine, Pyra thought. Parson may have been an asshat, but he got his licks in.

She caught herself reaching to brush the hair from her forehead with an arm that was no longer there. She grimaced, using her right arm instead.

What pit of hell did he land in? Hopefully one deeper than here.
