TETH BRUSHED THE hair away from Eve's forehead. Her eyes were closed, and she snored slightly, her feet still raised on the pillows. The medic was asleep in one of the bunker's dull metal chairs, his chin touching his chest, which rose and fell steadily. Mad paced around the beds, her freshly-stitched arm immobilized by a makeshift sling of old sheets. She eyed Teth each time she passed him, though he pretended not to notice.


"Royce," he whispered. "Gone. Just like that."
