Luke slurped his coffee. His eyes met hers and held them. She couldn't move; fused to the spot.
"We probably need to talk about what happened in the shower. I'm really sor..."
"Don't. Just don't." She dropped the sandwich and held up her hands, forcing her eyes to face him. "I started it. I simply didn't want to be scared any longer. I wanted all the terror and fearful thoughts gone from my head so I could be myself and feel good again. I wanted to erase the entire incident from my thoughts and memory. And you did that, or at least you did for a few minutes. But I'm okay. I'll survive."
"I merely got caught up in comforting you. I'm sorry."
She shrugged. "At least, you let me think you're attracted to me." She smiled.
He chuckled then put the final bite of his sandwich in his mouth. Pushing his chair away from the table he stepped to the window beside the fireplace and lifted a blind and looked outside.
