Chapter 68: Rebellion, Part 2

Markesha burst out laughing like someone had said the funniest joke ever told. I gave her a dirty look, but she was laughing so hard that tears sprang to her eyes.

"That's enough!" I said, laughing along, and then threw a dishtowel at her.

"Okay, okay! I surrender!" she said, feigning innocence, then got to her feet dabbing her eyes.

I gave her another dirty look. She smirked before walking out the door. I couldn't help but laugh. After all, this was the most attention I'd ever received in my life. You might know that it was in the middle of a war … or the beginning of one, anyway.

Timmy was already digging into the stack of pancakes in front of him, so I slathered mine with maple syrup and stabbed a piece with a fork. "So, what's on the agenda for today?"

"I already told you," Aiden replied, sitting across from me with his coffee.

"What's the plan?" I amended flatly. The pancakes were great, but I didn't dare tell him.
