Adelaide was hanging on to Hisoka as he stared out of the carriage window. She had wrapped herself around his arm, pulling him closer, and he couldn't pull back. That would give the game away. He felt trapped, tethered to her in a way he didn't want to be.
Hisoka was disgusted that it had been so simple, convincing her that he wanted her, that he loved her in fact. She'd believed everything he'd said and then he'd fucked her.
Now he was sitting with the silly woman in an empty carriage, following after the Kumari. Adelaide's touch made him feel almost sick. She was just a means to an end, he kept telling himself, but he couldn't escape the slight sense of guilt that he could feel creeping up on him.
He'd always known that she liked him. He'd liked her too at one time.
