Bae's heart was racing as she clung to Armel. Around and around they went, down the winding stairs, the wind attacking them from all directions.
She felt embarrassed as she hid her face from the protectors and Kumaians that surrounded them. She didn't mind Armel carrying her so much as she minded them seeing it. She could only imagine what they probably thought. Here was a Kumari who was supposed to protect the Realm from its enemies, and she couldn't even walk down the stairs without tripping up. It was almost laughable or perhaps more accurately, enough to make Bae want to cry.
Somewhere along the way they ran into Caspet and the others that had followed Armel. They were all out of breath, having struggled to keep up with the Cankurian.
They let him pass with the Kumari and Caspet fell into step behind him.
Tired Caspet? Armel teased.
Fuck off. We can't all be a Cankurian warrior.
True, Armel had replied arrogantly.
