Chapter 80: Sleeping Over

"You've all had far too much to drink to travel home tonight," mother tells us.

Grandma and Grandpa went to bed hours ago. The tequila had been replaced by a bottle of Merlot. Aileen is now lying across one sofa; she's been talking for the last hour about all her ideas for Stone LA. Dad is sitting next to mum, giving Ali his undivided attention.

Landon and I are sitting across from them. Landon's arm is draped over my shoulder, and he is incredibly relaxed. I hadn't expected tonight to go so perfectly.

I know my mum is right, but I don't want to sleep here. That will mean separate rooms and I don't want to sleep without him. Aileen nods her head, for once completely happy to agree with mum.

"I could sleep." She's drunk.

Mum laughs.

"Well, we're going to bed. You three can go whenever you are ready. Landon is welcome to have either of the guest rooms." Her words are pointed; making it clear he won't be welcome in my room.

"Night mum." I smile. "Night dad."
