Chapter 79: You Just Know Everything Don't You?

Aurora's POV:

Dinner is perfect. It sounds ridiculous to say it. Nothing is perfect, but dinner is as close to perfect as any meal can ever be. We eat in the dining room. Mother says it is because there are too many of us to fit around the table in the family room, but she has lost count.

Something my father decides to remark on, "but darling, seven is the perfect number for eating in the family room."

"Well," mother is flummoxed, "I thought it would be nice to eat in the dining room. Aileen never comes home, and Landon is here."

"My love, we can eat wherever you want," Lewis chuckles at his wife. "I'd eat in the garage if you asked me to."

"Don't be silly." She pats him on the cheek.

"Mum seems happier than last time I came by," I say to Grandma as we walk into the dining room together.

"She's not drinking as much. It's because she's seen Aileen. She has a lot of regrets, your mother."
