Some time after I have calmed down, the doctor returns to us.
"This is Dr Pickerton. He is Aurora's doctor."
His eyes catch me on the floor and it's almost funny. The irony of how vulnerable Aurora can make me.
"Good day." Dr Pickerton is too jolly and it's p*ssing me off. I tense but Michelle gives me a soothing pat. "I have good news. Aurora's operation has gone well. She is in intensive care, but it is looking very good. The operation was a success - our only concern now is ensuring a good and swift recovery without any post-op infections. There will need to be some physiotherapy but that's not a concern for today. She can't have many visitors - only one... Would one of you...?"
I sigh in relief and shock when Michelle whispers in my ear, "you go Landon. Tell her we love her."
"Thank you, Michelle."
