Clara's POV:
"You slept with Sarah." I've blurted it out before I can stop myself but I don't regret it.
If he's surprised, he doesn't let on. He nods his head solemnly.
"Yes, I did, a very long time ago."
"She was pregnant."
I can't look at him. I don't want to see the emotion in his eyes. I don't want to hurt him, and this is a conversation that's bound to hurt. I have a million questions that I don't have the right to ask.
"Yes." The simple word sounds so cold that I can't stop myself turning to look at him. His eyes are rich with the emotion that's missing in his tone. "She lost the child."
"Yes," I whisper because I feel like I'm intruding on a part of his history that doesn't belong to me.
"Is that why you've been avoiding me?"
