I spend the morning catching up on everything I've missed. It's long and tedious. I haven't missed a lot because I've still been working from home, but there are details that hadn't been passed on to me before that I now need to familiarise myself with.
It's slow work because I'm distracted. My foot keeps tapping anxiously, and I regularly check my watch. Time seems to be moving slower than normal. I'm like a child anxiously waiting for an appointment at the dentists. That is until half eleven when I somehow manage to lose half an hour. One moment it's half eleven, and the next thing I know its midday and my brother Gabriel is entering my office.
"Are you ready?" My brother is straight to business as always.
"I don't think I ever will be," I tell him honestly as I push down the lid of my laptop.
I step towards him, accepting the kiss he places on my cheek before fetching my coat and scarf from its stand. He helps me into it and then gently pulls my hair free from beneath it.
