Ashley is waiting for me at the elevator when I return to my floor. "Sir, I've got you a coffee," she tells me. "I've also got you some papers that Mr Peters wants you to sign."
"Okay," I nod as I lead her towards my office.
"Sir," Ashley grins at me when we're alone in my office, "can I congratulate you on your promotion."
"Thank you, Ashley." She hands me the papers to sign.
"When will you be moving offices?" she asks.
"Tomorrow," I tell her. "You're coming with me."
"Really?" She's taken aback.
"Of course," I smile.
Ashley spends most of the day boxing up my belongings so that I'll be ready to move offices first thing tomorrow morning. I try to ignore her as best I can and just get on with the work I need to do. I'm just finishing off my last email when I realise it's almost five thirty.
"Ash, you need to go home."
"Are you sure you don't need anything else?" she asks.
"No. Not at all," I tell her. "I'll be heading out in a minute myself."
"Thank you, Andrew."
