Jarrod's POV:
"Jarrod can you get the post out of my handbag?" Tallulah calls from our bedroom. "I completely forgot about it."
We've just arrived home and Tallulah has gone to change into a pair of comfy pants and a t-shirt. She wants to watch some TV and snuggle. I'm not so bothered what we do, so long as we do it together.
I open her bag and pull out the post. There's only a handful of letters but one stands out from the others.
If it's what I think it is, I'm surprised we haven't heard from DS Kentley. Then again, it's the weekend. Perhaps she's got the weekend off or she's busy working on another case.
Tallulah wanders in, coming up to stand next to me.
"Is that what I think it is?" she asks. There's no inflection in her tone to suggest that she's nervous or that she's upset at the prospect of the court case. If anything, she also sounds eager. Perhaps she's ready for all this to be over.
Perhaps she's ready for our future.
