Chapter 34

Frost approached her desk with a bundle of A4 paper. She held it in her hand as she walked, holding it up like a prize. As she placed it on the desk for the waiting detective to see, she began to explain the jargon printed in black:

"It's definitely James Lockedon's blood. Look here. DNA fingerprinting makes it virtually impossible for this sample to have come from someone else. One in a billion, literally. Your instincts were right, but we still need to find him."

"Is it really that accurate? I don't want to mess this up."

"Yes, all we know is that this piece of DNA matches the DNA on record. Nothing more. Assuming that there hasn't been any contamination to either sample, which is unlikely as there was only one person's DNA in the sample we tested. What it doesn't tell us is how it got there, how long it had been there, or where the owner is now. That's still your job."
