Chapter 32

Everything had been ready at the cottage for over two weeks. Anything appropriate that they could use from their house in Sale had already been taken down there. The cottage was stocked with groceries and all the electronic equipment was in place. All that remained was to tidy up here and say their goodbyes. Tilly couldn't wait to shake the dust of Green Gables from her feet and she had spent the last couple of hours furiously tidying and dusting, keeping herself busy until it was time to go, but Johnny, despite his longing to go home, found himself feeling a little bit sad. They had been so kind to him here.

Tilly stood up and looked around. Everything was as clean and tidy as she could make it. She had packed the suitcase, stripped the bed and left the linen neatly folded, checked all the cupboards and drawers to make sure they hadn't forgotten anything and now she felt at a loss.

There was a knock at the door and Tilly called out, "Come in, Kim. It's not locked."
