Chapter 69

"Let's ask Uncle to come in here to see it," Azuki said, holding the completed fabric gently across her hands and forearms. It was lustrous. The texture of the feathers caught the light, making the fabric seem to glow. It was every bit as beautiful as the fabric she made directly from her feathers when she changed. She couldn't wait to see what happened when she could spin the silk fiber and feather fiber together. That was how her own feather clothes were made, she'd discovered on further examination. She thought, though, she might like this way of spinning the feather fibers around an existing silk thread even better.

"He must see it," Tsuruko agreed, bending over the shining length. "It's beautiful."
