Coming to the rescue

The Crown Prince turned towards a gap between the tavern and the next building beside it. He leaned on the wall and then crossed his arms. Closing his eyes and exhaling deeply, he spoke, "What was that?"

Prince Alistair's voice came out hoarse and unrelenting.

I put my hands together in front of me as my gaze fell to the ground. "I-I don't know—"

"You don't know?" I felt his stare burning straight into my very soul.

My mouth opened only for me to close them.

"You let your emotions take over so easily." Again with that thunderous tone that sends shivers throughout my body.

My once fidgeting fingers froze in place at his statement. It felt like he was not only talking about earlier, but also during the time in my bedroom when they wanted to confirm if I was truly Sol.

"It didn't feel right—I wanted to do something for that man."

"A foolish attempt,"

The words came out calm yet heavy and set at the same time.
