"About the gown," Sein started, our bodies still swaying to the music box's harmony. "I gave it to you so that we could wear matching attires."

I stumbled on my footing.

"W-what…"

"I know, I know. I should've asked for your permission first." Sein blushed. "But the thought that someone might ask you first made me panic. I was being impulsive. I'm sorry, Calla."

"I was asking if you were alright. You're shaking." I didn't expect that he'd suddenly grab hold of my hand. He held it up and I saw that it was indeed shaking. "See?"

I took my hand back and looked away to lie. "This is nothing." Then I tried to smile as I faced him again. "I have to go-"

He grabbed both of my shoulders and leaned closer. "Hey, tell me. What's wrong?" His deep ocean eyes looked directly at mine as his hands dug deeper into my shoulders.

I broke away from him, averting my gaze.

Embarrassment overtook my whole body. That creature had just told me what kind of person I really was. I may have known about it and I may have just kept denying it.

Did I really want Sein to do those things to me? No, it could have been merely a trick that cultivated little wishes, turning them into even more tempting things so I would fall into its claws. But still, the fact that it happened was just shameful.

After what happened with the Puca, I might not be able to look Sein in the eyes the next time we meet.

"Hey," Lavi bent a little to take a better look at my face. "Don't tell me it actually did something to you?"

I cocked my head back, breathing hitched. I wasn't so sure if I can bear with anyone leaning close to me ever again.
