The Crown Prince's birthday

Tonight. I had planned on getting my memories back before the sun rises. I could not wait longer than this. Surely they would not deprive me of this request. I've done nothing in the past months but wait, wait and wait.

Dressed in a pale blue gown of tulle that resembled the calm waters of the lake back home, I walked the palace hallway with my father, my hand linked with his arm. My heels landed on the marble floor with dulled clinks as they stepped on the early moonlight that escaped from the windows.

"Calla my daughter, are you listening?"

I blinked, regaining consciousness of the reality in front of me. My mind had been preoccupied with the thought of finally knowing about my past since earlier. "Y-yes, father? Come again?"

He was still looking straight ahead, his expression unreadable. "I was asking how your time at the academy was going. Seeing as you are clearly distracted, I presume they must have been too hard on you?"
