This factor of your book is very important.
The author can create suspense by leaving the readers on a cliffhanger, I would highly recommend that.
What I wouldn't recommend, however, is that you make 2.5k+ word chapters. Your readers will likely grow bored and search for a different book, or perhaps the length of the chapter will scare them off before they get a chance to really read your book.
I understand that sometimes multiple events have to happen and you need to fit it all in one chapter so the whole thing comes together next chapter, well let me give you a tip on that.
Write the events and the thing they lead up to all in one chapter, then divide it accordingly.
See, usually, we think this whole big lead-up is going to last for the whole chapter when usually, it doesn't. I understand how in our heads we're thinking, 'Hey, this big thing is coming up, we'll need a whole chapter dedicated just to it,' but the truth is that the event is bigger than the word count needed to tell about the event.
Just- make sure to keep the number of works at an enjoyable number for your readers.
