Ch.32 Bracelet order

"So, what are the flaws?" Jax asked, a little excited. If he could circumvent the flaws, this would be the perfect birthday gift to Hisui.

"The flaw is that there is a need for at least eight beads on each bracelet for the magical energy inside the bracelet not to leak out or to fail to work. Moreover, each bead must use different magical energy. For example, if a bead uses ice magic, then the other seven beads can't use ice energy, or it will simply break." Said the shop owner.

After seeing the questioning look of Jax, he continued. "While this doesn't seem like a flaw, it is just one of them. The second one is installing magical energy inside the bracelet; there is a need for the magical energy to come from a mage only using such magic. In other words, to install energy inside the bracelet, the mage must only be using one energy type. If he is an ice wizard, then he can't have used other magic such as water magic in his life. If it were only this problem, it would still be fine since there are still wizards only using one type of magic in their entire lives. The true problem is the third condition which makes it impossible for anyone to use them." The shop owner said while shaking his head.

"The last problem is that it must be the same mage who install the eight types of magic. If there is a difference in the magic signature, the bracelet will fail or explode. Coupled with the previous condition, a mage isn't able to insert magic in the bracelet. The only way would be for a mage to have at least eight magic cores in their bodies which is simply impossible." Said the owner with a sad smile since he knew that his friend had spent years of his life on a failed product.

Jax, hearing the last condition, had an awkward look on his face. While it was indeed a condition that could stop every other mage in the world, he may be the exception due to the ritual giving him the giant statue, which accepted ten magics in his body and the ten smaller figures, which all worked as a magical container. The flaws in the so-called bracelet only made it so that Jax was the only mage alive being able to use it.

As he finished speaking, the shop owner left Jax and Cana as they both stared at the bracelet. Cana because she thought it would be a powerful magical tool if not for the conditions, while Jax simply thought he should confirm that he could use it.

Figuring there was nothing to lose, Jax took a bracelet from the shelf and started to insert eight magics into the bracelet at the same time. His air magic was giving the ability to fly. His water magic was giving the power of a water shield. His fire magic was giving the ability to create a fireball. His sound magic was giving the ability of shockwave. His fairy ability was offering a basic healing ability. His nature magic was giving the power of binding. His light ability gave the ability of light orb, while his dark magic gave the ability of shadow shift. While providing the eight beads' ability, he inserted the magical power of the eight elements simultaneously. It was difficult. Not only did he have to insert eight types of different magic at the same time, but he also had to insert the same amount. The previously eight transparent beads on the bracelet soon turned in different colours depending on the magic sealed into them. The colours white, blue, red, purple, pink, green, yellow and black, appeared on the beads and became more apparent as Jax inserted more magical power into them.

For the next five minutes, Jax inserted his magic power without hurrying as he knew it would fail if he were to work too fast. Jax found out that the process was extremely tiring and challenging as he put every ounce of his concentration on the bracelet. If he were distracted, he knew he would fail, and the bracelet and beads would break.

After finishing, 75% of his magical power of those eight magic was utterly gone, and he would have to wait to recharge it. Just looking at the conversion ratio, he knew that it was terrible. Usually, with his fire magic, he would be able to send around twenty intense fireballs non-stop before running out of magic. However, after inserting fifteen fireballs' worth of magical power into the bracelet, the bracelet only had enough energy to send five-strong fireballs.

However, even if the ratio was terrible, it was still pretty good for the first try. Not to mention that this was just five fireballs, but Jax had inserted seven other magics inside of the bracelet. It was worth considering that each magic was the spell of a strong A-rank or an average A-rank magician, depending on the magic used. For an average person, one such attack could be life-saving and was priceless.

While the civilians could task wizards to protect them, there was a time limit. On the contrary, by having the bracelet, they had a magical spell ready at any time. The only drawback was that once the bracelet owner used the magic, the wizard who created the bracelet, in other words, him, would have to replenish the magic as the bracelet couldn't collect ethernano from the atmosphere.

For a birthday gift, this was perfect. There were seven bracelets in the shop, and he would try to store more power to release more spells. Taking the seven bracelets, deciding to buy them, he turned to Cana, who looked at him wide-eyed. She had just heard from the shop owner that a mage couldn't have more than one pure magic in their body, and thus was the bracelet a failure. Right afterwards, she saw Jax do the impossible.

Grinning at Cana, Jax turned around towards the location of the magical cards. "Should we look for your magic cards now? I'm still hoping to see card magic today!"

Looking at the cards on the shelves, Cana moved towards the cheapest ones. The cards were yellowed on the side, and the magical fluctuation was relatively weak. Seeing her move towards those cards, Jax sighed before taking the magical card pack with the most potent magical fluctuation and took Cana's hand while she was still choosing amongst the weaker cards.

Bringing Cana to the counter, Jax set the pack of magical cards upon which Cana tried to get them back to pick another deck of cards. "Jax, I don't need such good cards. The other ones are fine too." She said, with her eyes looking down. But, it was evident that she quite liked the pack of cards which had an orange tint on the edge of the cards compared to the cards which were yellow on the sides due to being too old.

"It's fine, it's fine. You helped me and accompanied me while shopping this afternoon, and these cards can be my thanks to you."

"...Thanks," Cana said while holding Jax's hand a little tighter as a small smile spread on her face. It was the first time someone had been nice to her since her mother died and she came to Magnolia.

Jax saw her smile and smiled as well as he also held her hand tighter. Jax then used his other hand to leave the seven bracelets on the counter as the shop owner came closer.

"The pack of cards is worth 50,000 Jewels, and the seven bracelets are worth 20,000 Jewels each. Are you sure you want to buy the bracelets? As I said, it's impos... You managed to insert magical power into it?" The shop owner shouted at the end as he saw the bracelet he had filled with magical power.

"Yes. I am a bit different from normal mages, so that I can use them. Do you think you could contact your friend who made these bracelets? I would be interested in buying more of those. They would prove extremely useful for jobs." Said Jax as he hoped he could buy more bracelets.

"Yes, of course! He lives in this town. How much are you interested in buying for the moment?" Asked the merchant as he seemed excited for his friend who had been doing odd jobs for the last few years due to his once-thought failed project.

"Currently, I was thinking about a hundred more? Do you think it would be possible to have ten beads instead of eight on each bracelet and have the bracelets' colour vary? I'm fine with an increase in price for the two extra beads on each bracelet, and for the bracelet, I would like to have them of each colour. Another thing, for the bracelet, it would be best if you could make a few extremely luxurious ones and use a stronger material. Of course, I'll also pay extra for the changes." Said Jax as he was ready to practise his magic on those bracelets.

He found while completing the previous bracelet that using the eight magic in conjunction with each other promoted the control of his magic. Jax felt that not only could this increase his grooves, but this could also increase his magic control. He believed that with enough control, he would reduce the loss of magical powers whenever he completed a spell. It was necessary to know that while a spell needed, for example, 500 units of magical power, the mage would release more to be sure not to miss the attack, sometimes wasting 200 or more magical power units. Of course, units of magical powers didn't exist, but this was the way he had learned to control his magic. Moreover, it would not only help him with his magic, but it would also be useful for the guild to have such items to save their lives.
