6.Blue Streak

The water splashed and rushed around her as Pandrea plunged into the water backward. Luckily, she didn't smack into any rocks as she fell in. The cold water made her expel breath, and began to choke on the water. Pandrea fought her way up, breaking the surface and coughing out water.

Sidgardus, seeing this, immediately went to the edge of the water to dive in after her. Upon reaching the water's edge, he was stopped. A large dark writhing mass was below Pandrea, a Freshwater Kraken. Not wanting to put both of them in danger, Sigardus got down on his stomach.

When she finally got her coughing under control, Pandrea looked up to see Sigardus lying on the rock with his hand stretched towards her. As she was stretching forwards and reaching for him, something wrapped around her leg.

Whatever had grabbed Pandrea's leg ripped her back under the water before Sigardus could grab her hand. She flailed frantically underwater as she was being pulled down into an impossibly deep pit. Pandrea began looking down to see that she was being pulled towards a giant blue maw filled with teeth. The thing looked like some water plant from hell.

"Princess!!!" Calimus's tubular voice came from her mind. "You need to change!!!"

"How?" Pandrea asked Calimus frantically in my mind.

"I don't know how Princess!!!" Calimus whined.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T KNOW HOW?!" She screamed in her mind at Calimus.

Things were starting to get blurry now, and she could see the teeth getting closer. Suddenly, there was a blue streak that blurred across her vision. There it was again!

The blue mass seemed to spin around and trying to get her attention, but Pandrea was starting to lose consciousness."Breathe her in, Princess or you will die," Calimus said, but she could barely understand what he was saying.

As she tried to gasp for air one last time, even though she was going to die anyway. Then, Pandrea felt a rush inside herself. It was the same feeling of her body ripping and tearing apart. Something was different this time, and the pain wasn't as intense.

Suddenly, she could breathe again. As her eyes opened, she could see black with patches of blue waves across her broad and muscled body. Hands and feet were blue, along with elongated fingers and toes with webbings.

The creature was still trying to pull her down but was startled by what its prey was doing. Pandrea reached down and tore at the tentacle wrapped around her leg, and it sprayed inky purple blood. The blood spraying into the water made it a lot harder to see, and she began to try and swim upwards.

As Pandrea tried to get away, two more tentacles surged up and latched onto her legs. She turned back to tear them apart, yet more came rushing up at her. This monster was mad and didn't want to let its meal go. Just then, Pandrea heard a splash above her, and Sigardus shot past her in his Dragon-Shyft form and attacked the tentacles.

This proved to be a horrible idea. Once Sigardus attacked the two that had latched onto Pandrea, three more wrapped themselves around him and started to pull him down. Sigardus struggled in vain but was being towed down like she was. Pandrea could see Sigardus now more clearly through the dragon, and he looked like he was in trouble. So much for him saving her.

Sigardus struggled as she raced towards him, but he gasped out a breath, and the dragon disappeared. Kira spun around him furiously as he was dragged down into the creature's hundreds of teeth. Pandrea swam desperately towards him, but then a voice with a motherly bearing sounded in her mind.

"You must take her," the voice said.

As Pandrea swam past Sigardus, She did the unnatural inhale and pulled Kira into herself. Pandrea felt a warm light pulse inside herself. Then she looked down to see Kira create long, razor-sharp claw over the short ones the new Shift had given me. The blue waves now rolled with golden flames across her body.

The savage blue Kraken's tentacles lashed out at her, but she tore through them with her golden claws. They glowed brightly even though the inky blood that was staining the water. Without thought, Pandrea shot forwards and dug her nails into the wrinkled flesh of the trashing monster.

She tore into it, pulling out chunks until it stopped moving. The water was dark from all the inky purple blood, and she was having a hard time seeing. Pandrea began frantically searching for Sigardus.

"He's over there," The soft child like the voice of Kira made a mental push upwards to the left, and Pandrea swam in that direction.

Within moments she had found Sigardus and let some breath out so that Kira would leave her, allowing her to safely grab him. Pandrea started to swim towards the surface, holding onto Sigardus.

When she broke the surface, she began to swim to the shore. Once there, Pandrea breathed out again, and the blue Shift expelled itself from me. As this happened, she began to shrink back to normal size, with Aethereal steam rising off. She moved over to checked Sigardus, only to realize that he wasn't breathing.

Pandrea started to panic, trying to remember the first aid lessons she had received during the babysitting course taken when she was thirteen. She placed on hand over the top of the other on his chest and started trying to force his lungs to start working. Over and over, she compressed, but he wasn't breathing, and she was starting to get tears in her eyes.

Suddenly, she remembered something and her face went bright red realizing what she had to do. Pandrea bent over Sigardus and tipped his head back, pinching his nose. Then, she leaned forward, taking a large breath and place her mouth over his. She had breathed air into his mouth four times before he began to cough and spit up water.

Pandrea fell back with an audible sigh as Sigardus continued to cough the rest of the pond out of his lungs. He had tried to save her, even though he ended up in worse trouble. Maybe not a knight in shining armor, but he did try to be her hero in a shining dragon. A girl could do worse.
