Four days later...
(At the Earth kingdom)
Lucy looked at the mam standing in front of her and told him that she noticed that he has been avoiding her lately. The man then sat down on the bench and told her that it was for her own good.
The princess touched his hand. "Josh, Can't you see that you're just hurting my feelings?"
"Princess, we aren't meant to be."
"I know that Charlotte has been eyeing you lately."
Josh rolled his eyes. "I know. She's really clingy."
"Josh, are you making me jealous?"
"What are you talking about? Why would I do that?"
"You don't have to mention that she's clingy. You're letting me lose hope."
"I never gave you hope."
"Josh!" Lucy shouted.
"Okay, okay. I'm just saying." Josh chuckled.
Lucy then asked why he kept avoiding her. The general looked at the floor and told her that he just didn't know how to face her when he knew that she liked him.
The princess looked at the sky. "Well that's pretty reasonable."
Josh sighed, "Look, I'm a general and your status is higher than mine."
"How many times do I have to tell you that I don't care?"
"I care. I don't want your reputation to be ruined."
"What if I tell you that I'm willing to give up everything for you?"
The general blushed. "You're unbelievable, princess."
"We'll take it slow then."
"What do you mean?"
The princess smiled and told him that if he wouldn't give her a chance, then they'd just stay as friends. The general then looked at her and asked if that was it.
Lucy lifted his chin. "I'll try to make your heart flutter."
Josh sighed, "Your highness—"
Before he could continue, the princess suddenly kissed his cheek which left Josh astounded.
As soon as Josh felt her lips on his cheek, his heart started beating fast. He had never felt that way towards a woman before. He's seen a lot more beautiful women than her, but there was just something that was different in her.
Lucy smiled. "Do we have a deal then?"
Josh sighed, "I'll think about it."
"What's there to think about? Didn't I tell you that we'll be friends again?"
"Princess, I can't."
"I'll fight Charlotte fairly. If you like her, then I'll give up."
"You sure?" the general asked.
The princess responded, "Sometimes, letting go of someone you love is better than to see them unhappy with you."
"I'm glad you've learned your lesson."
"That's why if you don't like me back, then I'll just let you go."
"I'm giving you a chance."
The princess's eyes widened. "What?"
The general looked away. "Nothing."
"I heard that! Say it again!"
"I said I'm giving you a chance."
"I can't hear you!"
Josh said, "Nothing, I'm just—"
Before Josh was able to continue, Lucy suddenly hugged him.
"Thank you." Lucy smiled.
Josh tried putting her hands away. "Princess, someone might see us."
"I don't mind. Let's just stay like this for a while."
A few hours later...
"She's so sweet!" Mark yelled.
Josh covered his mouth. "Lower down your voice."
"If I were you, I'd give her a chance."
Josh leaned back on his chair. "Who said I didn't?"
"You-You did?" Mark asked.
"Why wouldn't I?"
"Good choice."
"Help me out with Charlotte."
"Deal with her yourself."
The general then asked how he could deal with two women at the same time. Mark brought his face closer and then told him that he had no idea so it was better to deal with them himself.
Mark sat down beside him. "You're just playing hard to get aren't you?"
Josh looked away. "No, I'm not."
"You like the princess don't you?"
"Not yet."
"You can't fool me."
The general admitted, "My heart races when I see her."
"I see. This is a love at first sight."
The general then explained that he was avoiding her because he was afraid that he won't be able to continue himself in hugging her.
Mark laughed. "Are you my best friend? When have you become like this?"
Josh rolled his eyes. "Whatever."
"Since you like her too, why don't you say it to her?" Mark started cleaning his sword.
"It's not the right time yet."
"Then when do you plan to?"
"Do I need to tell you everything?"
"Of course! I'm your buddy."
"Well, it's a secret."
