World Lore

A little over a thousand years ago the kingdom of Yisa stood between Edicia and Firlamos. The populace of Yisa was human scholars who specialized in dark magic. Yisa was a peaceful kingdom that focused on learning.

Edicia at the time was a kingdom that primarily used light magic. Edicia was a collection of warlords who thrived on infighting. One man rose to the top of Edicia. Janthar was a man who possessed a large amount of charisma and strength, so it was easy for him to unite the warlords of Edicia and declare himself the first king.

Edicia was growing at a rapid rate and found themselves facing a bleak future of overcrowding and loss of resources. Janthar enlisted the help of the priests of Elone to begin a campaign against the people of Yisa. Rumor spread far and wide that Yisa was amassing power to overthrow Edicia.

The rumors also spoke of how the people of Yisa participated in human sacrifice. How they drew their powers from the deaths of those around them. It took less than two years to gather the forces of Edicia, with Firlamos as allies, to attack Yisa.

Yisa was hit hard and its people were forced to flee. They had no battle experience and were sitting ducks for the armies of their neighbors. Most of Yisa fled to the mountains where their king, Komai. There, while his people were huddled within a cave, he created a pocket dimension where they were able to seek refuge.

The remaining people of Yisa managed to slip through the enemy armies and headed to the deserts of Fegosk. Fegosk was an uninhabitable region where no humans dared to live. The people of Yisa made a home here and, like those that lived in the pocket dimension, evolution changed them from the people they were when they first sought refuge there.

In our current world, Eidica is a large country that is populated primarily by humans. The only non-humans are slaves and servants. They have an uneasy alliance with the elves of Eloerian. This is mainly due to the fact that Eloerian is so far away and hidden deep within a forest. The only way to get to Eloerian is to either traverse Fegosk or sail.

The dwarves of Gomaseth are neutral and refuse to join in any war or conflict. Because of the quality of weapons and tools, they create everyone respects their neutrality.

The only true neighbor of Edicia is Firlamos, a country that boasts the most freshwater. The two branches of the river Dorlis Rill run through it. One branch merges with the Chiden then into the Jade Sea. The other branch ends at Astonia Lake. Firlamos, much like Edicia, is a primarily human country.

The biggest ally of Edicia is Araven. It is a large country in the cold region of the planet. Its Caten Port is the biggest in the world with trade from every country passing through its port. Araven is a country that believes in the equity of all creatures so it's not uncommon to see demi-humans walking alongside humans. You may even see a few elves or dwarves here.

On an island isolated from the rest of the world is Galarede, the country of demihumans. They try their best to stay to themselves, knowing how the human dominant worldviews them. They aren't peaceful by any means. Galarede understands that humans despise and look down on them so they strive to become strong. The kings of Galarede are chosen through battle, this challenge is held every ten years. It's handled this way to keep a king from growing weak and gives the younger generation the chance to lead.

Before Caine fought Xanthe for the title of Demon Lord he traveled around the world. He took this time to gain information and potential allies. In his ten years in the world, he has visited two countries in particular. Fegosk because he found out it's a link to Yisa. There he gained a tentative ally. If Yisa can take over Edicia and prove that they can take Firlamos, Fegosk will join them.

The ally he had made in Galarede when he first traveled took the throne two years ago. This friend and ally has given Caine access to spies within Edicia and promises to join Caine when he goes to take Kael, the capital of Edicia.

The world that Gavin was summoned to has a pantheon of gods and goddesses. At the top of the chain are Umena and Detmos, the creation mother and father. The lesser gods are the children of the creator gods.

Edicia's primary goddess is Elone, the goddess of light. She was there at the beginning of Edicia, even though they were a country of warlords. The only god they do not allow in Edicia is Rodon, god of death. Firlamos follow a similar path, though they do not have any temples. In the capital city of Kael, they have a temple dedicated to Elone.

Araven has no restrictions on the gods that its citizens worship. The country as a whole has Nydea as an unofficial official goddess. Nydia is the goddess of the hearth. Since Araven is a country that spends a lot of its time in winter the hearth is important.

Fegosk is the only country that exclusively worships Rodon, the god of death. Because of the bleak landscape of the desert and its large monsters death is around every turn. Tarse, the capital city of Fegosk, has a temple devoted to Rodon. Every home has a small altar to Rodon.

The elves of Eloerian are mostly indifferent to worshiping the gods. The closest they come is with Laion, the god of nature. He is mostly called upon when they go out to hunt, or by farmers.

The dwarves of Gomaseth are devout followers of Duros, god of the forge. They do not waste their time with temples, but each home and place of business has a small shrine to Duros. No dwarf worth their salt starts forging without first calling upon Duros and laying out an offering of incense and steel.

Galarede, like the dwarves, is a strong follower of their particular god. The beastkin worships Isbin, the god/ess of beasts. Isbin is a hard god to pin down as they do not ascribe to a particular gender or beast. They are fluid and ever-changing god that loves their followers with full equity.
