...
Young Mirae expected the man to shake her hand, but only to see him ignore her. Frowning, she lowered her hand in humiliation and observed him as he stood from his spot.
"Aren't you going to help me?" It came out of her lips as if it was a demand and not a question.
The man looked at her from head to toe before retorting, "What's the point? You can stand on your own."
'Why does he keep on rejecting me?'
The question entered her mind. Did he not like pretty ladies after all? Or was Young Mirae flirting with a man who has a partner? But if he was a married man, he should be wearing a ring on his finger.
'Does he have a girlfriend? But him treating me like this should not be tolerated!'
Her eyes chased after the man who marched away from the scene and threw a tantrum.
"I just saved your life, and this is how you're going to repay your savior? You—"
Young Mirae halted from her words when she saw his eyes bored on her and the line between her eyebrows instantly faded. Argh, this was beyond unfair for her. How could he look so attractive to her eyes with only a raise of his eyebrow?
"Gah, you handsome man!"
She hid her face behind her palm while constantly peeking in the space that separated her fingers.
"Sunhi! Baek Sunhi!"
The shouts of her name rang through the other side, making her take her eyes off from the man. It would seem that after the advancing truck forced its way inside, the warehouse split in two.
Breaking her incomplete observation of the aftermath, she glanced back, expecting to see him standing by the door on the opposite side where she went in. But the fella was nowhere around.
Hmph, whatever. She would give him a huge minus for being insensitive to her.
"Sunhi! Are you still alive, Baek Sunhi — ow!" The sound of a slap interrupted the call.
"Nam Hana." Menace filled Nam Hiah's voice when he called his brother's name.
"What, sis? I'm only making sure if she survived."
Young Mirae moved on from the stupid rejection and rise to give a better examination of the place. Following the truck blocking the way, the second thing that greeted her was the gray ash and swirling blur of dust.
She held her elbow close to her face as an instinctive response, not wanting to inhale the particles in the air. The dusty floors and cargoes, her haired bathed of the gray ashes, the powdered concrete showered the whole warehouse entirely.
The side of the truck oozed the aroma of fuel; the juice was dripping drops from the tank.
'Damn, now it smells like gas and gunpowder.' The side of the truck oozed the aroma of fuel.
There was debris everywhere; this place looked even more ruined. Big and small rocks showered the other corpses left laying on the cold concrete. Under the truck tires was the dead body she was inspecting a minute ago.
"I'm over here! I'm fine!"
Young Mirae raised her hands and hopped, hoping for the individuals on the other side to see her. A little while later, she soon heard Nam Hana's response.
"Okay, wait there and we'll come for you! Don't move!"
She did what he said. While waiting, she insisted to verify if there was a person inside the truck but only to discover a severely wounded person.
It did not look like he was breathing. He got holes all over his head and shoulders. Unquestionably, someone flooded him with bullets while he was driving.
"S-Sunhi," interjected the call from Nam Hiah, sounding striving from the shortness of breath, "where, where is the man who was with you before?"
"Oh, him? That rascal left me here, although I saved him." Crossing her arms, she pouted. "You guys didn't see him? He went out from the door you came in just a minute earlier."
"Who are you talking about, sister?"
Before responding to the query of her brother, Nam Hiah took deep breaths in succession. "Park Wonho."
"Is that his name? Thank you for telling me, Hiah. I introduced myself to him, but he did not tell me his name. Does he not like pretty girls?"
"What about pretty boys?"
"Gah, Hana! Don't start it!" Did this guy think he could steal her man? What a joke!
"He's dangerous, Sunhi. Park Wonho may seem like just another man to you but he's a serious threat you must never dream of," hindered Nam Hiah.
Even if she said it like that, Young Mirae could not help it. Given that Nam Hiah described him as a serious threat, a question appeared in her mind. How would she react if Young Mirae confessed that she was the granddaughter of a mafia boss?
"Is what she said. If I were you, Sunhi. I'll go find someone else. There are plenty more fishes in the sea," concluded Nam Hana as he shrugged his shoulders.
"Why are you talking about fishes? He looks perfectly human for me."
"To some eyes, he appeared as a beast."
"Yeah, I agree. He looks like one, a beast in bed."
Young Mirae giggled at the end of her statement. In the harmonized moment, Nam Hana caught the contagious snickers escaping her lips.
"Anyhow, I'm just letting you know that you suck at fishing." Nam Hana stopped what he was doing after receiving a glare from her sister. "But hell, I feel sorry about this guy. He's supposed to be the one sending the bodies to the morgue, isn't he, sister?"
"Yes," was her frugal answer. "Wait a second. I'll report this to the morgue so they could send us another person. For now — huh? Sunhi, what's wrong?"
In the middle of listening to Nam Hiah, she felt a throbbing, severe pain in her waist and rib cage. The torture kept going, causing her difficulty in breathing.
"I believe, I believe we need to call for an ambulance...?"
Her face turned pale, and she could not hold the strain anymore. Stooping while she clenched tightly on her chest, her legs shouted their resignation and she immediately sank on the floor.
Although she struggled to move her head, she attempted to lift her gaze. "Oh, oh no, am I going to die? I can hear the bells ringing. Are the angels going to come and guide me to heaven?"
"Ah, this crazy woman's talking nonsense," mouthed Nam Hana. "Hang in there, Sunhi! Sister's calling an ambulance!"
