Six: Bump

Great Hall

The break ended so soon and we went back to the Great Hall to continue our meeting. We were so full that we couldn't properly walk fast without holding our tummies.

"Pretty gluttonous pigs,"

Lesley and I turned our direction to the person who spoke. Instead of furrowing, we smiled and greeted the beautiful angel in front of us.

"Dr. Rafaela," I greeted.

Rafaela is the head of the Medical department, she leads the Emergency Response Team with her fast healing hands and skills. She studied all her life about medicines, anatomy, and everything about science system.

"Yet still looking gorgeous and beautiful," She added after her crummy compliment, "I saw how you ate, but you still look cute despite being such a big eater."

"Dr. Rafaela," Lesley awkwardly greet.

"Hello maidens, please, don't be too formal. I just admire the both of you, keep up your good works and beauty," Rafaela smiled and winked at us before heading inside the great hall.

Lesley and I stood at the big tan door for a moment.

"Seriously, I don't know what would I feel after being called gluttonous pig and beautiful at the same time," Lesley said and tapped her forehead.

"Yeah," I agreed and nodded like a willing kid.

Lesley's face turned red, "That was embarrassing. I will never let my hungriness ruin my image again," she said and walked in the great hall.

I shook and scratched my forehead. I am confused as well on what to feel after receiving such confusing compliments from the beautiful doctor. I almost forgot to take a step if Officer Vale didn't pinched my cheeks.

"Oh shit," I silently cursed and looked away, "Officer Vale," I awkwardly greeted.

He just pinched my cheeks for heaven's sake! I felt like my face is burning, and the atmosphere is getting hot as well.

Officer Vale chuckled, "I never thought I could still make someone blush,"

My eyes widened and boldly received his stares, "I am not blushing!" I denied.

He smirked and crossed his arms, "Oh, are you not?"

"I am not,"

"Your face is all red, including your ears, is it not what you called blushing?" He mocked.

I had trouble stopping myself from cursing. I almost exclaimed cusses at officer Vale due to embarrassment. I felt embarrassed, for fuck's sake how could I just blush with a simple pinch?

"I— I'm going," I stuttered and walked inside the hall.

I heard officer Vale laughed, "You are cute, Guinevere."

Damn, shit, what is he talking about? What is he doing? Why am I receiving such felicitations from him?

"Thank you," I responded and doubled my steps away from officer Vale.

I have no idea what's up with this officer but he's certainly making me uncomfortable. He still followed me as I felt his presence walking right behind me.

I stopped and boldly faced officer Vale who's now intently staring at me, "Do you have something to say, officer?"

Vale smiled, and I felt my cheeks burned again, "I just want to greet congratulations."

"Thank you, please stop following me," I politely said.

Vale cracked a laugh and took a step towards me, I didn't move. He raised his hands and patted my head, I stood still and gulped. What the hell is officer Vale doing?

He sighed, "I am not following you, Baroque. I'm on my way to our table, next to yours. We're heading the same way, agent Guinevere."

OH SHOOT! My eyes widened, I bit my lower lip and cursed a lot in my head. I felt embarrassed once again, can I just melt or fade away right now, this instant, at this very moment?

Officer Vale chuckled, "But, I see nothing wrong on following you tho. You'll know if I'm following you on purpose or what," he softly said right in front of my face and winked before walking away.

I froze on my spot, I almost lost my breathe.

"Damn," I blew a breath away and wiped my forehead. I felt like I'm sweating hard eventhough the hall is air-conditioned.

I glanced at officer Vale who's now talking with his co-officers. I gasped and looked away when the officers in his table, specially Ms. Lunox glanced at me with a questioning look yet sweet smile. Right, I should distant myself from these shippers, this isn't good.

"Tss,"

"Ouch!" I squealed when a person bumped my shoulders, "Are you blind?"

I furrowed and my face immediately darkened when I saw who exactly bumped at me on purpose. He was looking gorgeous with his natural suit, but his visuals didn't get me, he just made my day worse. Gusion's face darkened after stealing a glance at officer Vale and stared back at me.

He run his hands through his silky brown hair and sighed in frustration.

"Just why the hell are you blocking the way?" His cold voice chilled me.

What's with his sudden mood and stares?

"Excuse me, I am not blocking the way and you can just simply walk past without bumping at me. You bumped me on purpose!"

Gusion rolled his eyes, "I thought you were a display, you freezing Auburn head. Don't start a fight, Guinevere."

I glared at him, "How dare you tell me not to start a fight when it was you who commenced by bumping at me on purpose!"

"Because you were blocking the way!"

I took a step closer to him, "You know I did not. You're making such lame excuses, Paxley!"

He took a step closer as well and looked down at me since he's tall and I am not.

"You blocked the way, Guinevere. Stop flirting and behave."

My anger rised up. He really knows how to perfectly ruin my mood, "How dare you! I am not flirting you stupid dunderhead!"

"Are you not, huh? Then what do you call the thing you had and did earlier with officer Vale?"

"Excuse me? It's not flirting and that's certainly none of your business!"

We were about to stroke each other when Lesley intruded.

"Hey, hey! Stop it, you two! Here you go with your nonstop arguments again!" She interposed and gripped my hands, "Calm down, Guinevere."

I growled in frustration, "This Gusion guy is ruining my mood. He just arrived—— what the hell? Did you went all the way here to annoy me?!" I exclaimed and smacked his arms.

I immediately withdraw my hand when a volt electrified the both of us. Gusion stared at me with wide eyes while I raised my eyebrows in confusion.

Gusion gritted his teeth, his face darkened and his jaw clenched, "Work is work, Baroque. Do not flirt."

I aimed a punch, "How dare you!"

"Enough, let's get back to our seats. Ms. Lunox will continue after a minute," Lesley interrupted and grip my arms again.

Lesley turned to Gusion, "Agent Paxley, have a seat and don't mind this spoiled child. I'll take care of her,"

"What the hell, Lesley?" I scowled.

Gusion just glared daggers at me before walking away. He glanced at me again when he got into his seat with his friends. I rolled my eyes when he gave me an annoying smirk.

Ghad, I badly want to strangle him!

"That damn, Paxley! He just arrived yet he already had the guts to accuse me weird things. For fucks sake I did not flirt!"

Lesley patted my shoulders and pulled me to our seat.

"Stop it, Guinevere. Ms. Lunox is on the platform now." She said.

I just focused myself listening to Ms. Lunox's redundant superfluous lectures.

We waited for an hour before she spilled the apple of our meeting.

"So again, congratulations to everyone for a job well done. Brace yourselves, we will be having a fancy night of gowns and suits. Wear your finest luxuries and merriments as we enjoy the most beautiful and awaited ball of agents."

Everyone clapped in excitement. I guess it was only me who didn't feel excited at all. I just want to sleep and I have no plans on coming at the ball.

"Everyone's attendance is a must. Your absence will affect your ranking," Ms. Lunox added.

"Oh shit!" I mumbled and stroke my head, "So annoying."

"I see, you were not interested," Lesley noticed.

I sighed, "I badly want to take a rest. They really know how to blackmail competent agents, huh."

Lesley just chuckled.

"Come on, it's a night to enjoy. Everyone should come, this is a ball of agents after all. This is a ball for you, for your successful missions..."

I facepalm, "So unlucky."

Everyone clapped, including Lesley. I lazily clapped as well since I don't want to look rude. My mood was just ruined, that damn Paxley is really good at irritating others.

Ms. Lunox heave some reminders before she adjourned the meeting.

"Everyone is obliged to attend the ball, all right? This will be a legendary ball for everyone, the ball of success... let's celebrate for a job well done, agents!"
