Grinding

The cube rebelled against my will, cursed me, and struggled to reject my sapphire. Using the connected tethers, I began resealing the puzzle. Every change and switch to the puzzle sent it into a panic. I felt my connection to the glowing blue cube grow with ever second my sapphire remained inside of it. In moments I controlled half of the puzzle.

"Stop please," A childish voice screeched. I snorted and continued my work. My aura sense bathed the cube in my ownership. "You don't understand I can't leave the captain's hand. Please, I'll help you convince another treasure." Sixty percent of the cube was under my control and it could no longer be solved. I rearranged the colors in a pattern that made solving it impossible.

"None of the others accepted me. You're my last hope." I said.
