The Drive

"What is the plan when we get to the airport, just hop on any plane?" I asked as Carol pulled onto the freeway. " No, but that doesn't sound like a bad idea," she replied with a chuckle. "So then I take it we are on some kind of mission now since we caught my original?" I asked her with a slightly irritated tone. " What gave you the idea that that's your original, kinda harsh don't you think?" She answered in a sweet cheery voice.

" It's just that when we were fighting, he said I was the defect and that I had no right to my happiness. It just made me come to terms with not really having a grip on my memories. I mean in all honesty how would I know ?" I ranted on until Carol put her finger to my lips and said. "You are the one true you. No number of clones can change that, so don't ever throw yourself away because of what others say. Even if you did hear it straight from your mouth because he definitely doesn't know," she laughed afterwards and it calmed me down enough to face reality. The version of me that was in the back seat might even be a clone himself.

"Why clone me? Also did my mom do something wrong to have a target on her back?" I asked hoping Carol would know. "Im sorry, all I know is your safety has been my mission for almost 6 years now, while our dog friend was on your trail" She replied with a slightly cold response. "You really don't remember her do you?" She quickly added in. "It's not that I don't remember her, I have these images of her that play on repeat in my mind. I mean I saw her die by his hands, now I find out he was me the whole time. I just can't bring myself to think about her right now." The rest of the drive was quiet, until we got to the airport. " I'm not sure how we are going to get him on the plane if I'm being honest. I can't change his memories because then he'd forget the things we need to know,"she said in a worried tone. "That's alright I can make a plane using my powers, we just need a clear runway to take off," I almost shouted in excitement. Sounds like a plan can I let you take care of that, I have to make sure he doesn't wake up?" Carol asked. " Yeah, no problem just leave it to me I'll be right back!"
