Mera Mera No Mi! It Doesn’t Hurt!?

~Dabi~

'Great….This just keeps getting better and better.' Rolling my eyes, I drug a hand up my face. Raking it up through my hair as I watched the situation with a steadily growing nervousness.

I shot Eraser a look as he visibly groaned, murmuring to Law who glanced at me, followed by Twice who just seemed excited for the chaos. Law held an annoyed frown but nodded to whatever quick plan Eraser came up with, I grabbed Shoto and Luffy's arms. Preparing to move as Doflamingo busied himself with blabing, the air held tense when a sudden scream was heard from the Transponder Snail held by the samurai.

"What happened this time!!? It's Brook!!" Luffy exclaimed.

Clicking my tongue in annoyance 'The problems just keep piling.' They shouted in shock at the sudden name that was shouted from the snail. '"Big Mom"? Yonko? What the hell, that certainly doesn't sound good.' Glancing at Eraser and Law, I noticed they were ready to move. Twice was hopping beside them in anticipation, I let the others converse for a moment more before finally dragging the two away.

"Woah! Wait! Dabi!" Luffy said uselessly.

"We have to go, the Navy and Flamingo guy won't just wait for us. I'm sure Eraser has a plan, so while they tire out trying to distract the obstacles. We need to hurry and get your brother's fruit, and finish destroying that factory."

Luffy stopped wriggling, agreeing as he smiled to hide his worry for his crew.

"They'll be fine, but we'll have to meet them later."

I reassured, he nodded and ran beside me. Shoto thankfully didn't need any convincing, since he was coming regardless. We ran into one of the main rooms when my eyes landed on Luffy's Green Mohawk Fanboy, Luffy noticed him as well. Choosing to run over and talk, the other fell and seemingly nearly fainted as a familiar bloody character held him.

'I think the guy's name was….Bellamy? Why's he look so injured?' The three conversed fairly casually, when they started talking about Ace's fruit. The distant sound of footsteps behind me caught my attention as the unfamiliar face spoke.

"The 'Fire Fruit' cannot be given to you 'Strawhat Luffy'."

I frowned at the person as Luffy's Fanboy got angry and entered the others' space, acting threatening and spewing words. The person simply pushed Mr. Fanboy out of the way as I raised an eyebrow, pulling Shoto back from the two's line of sight. Luffy moved into the others' space and started complaining about his words, when the other took off his hat and said something that frankly took me aback. Though it seemed I wasn't the only one to react that way, since Luffy immediately lost his words.

Tears filled Luffy's eyes as they rounded wide with shock, he hopped onto the other. Sobbing hysterically as he mumbled out a slew of jumbled words, the two shared the emotional moment as I glanced down at Shoto who looked up at me with a soft smile. I replied with a quiet chuckle while shaking my head and patting his, once the quick explanation of things was given. The person revealed to be "Sabo" Luffy's apparent second brother, he revealed an exit to Luffy as they discussed a bit more.

"I told Dabi he could eat it, but now you're here…." Luffy stared conflicted at the floor.

"I don't mind, we can always just do a "whoever gets it first" situation. I don't even know if it'll work for me, to be fair." The two looked at me in confusion. I signed "Because I already have my Quirk, I don't know what- or if anything will -happen if I eat a Devil Fruit." Luffy hummed and scratched his head as Sabo gave me a questioning look.

"Anyway, you should get going Luffy. We don't have a lot of time." Sabo interrupted whatever train of thought Luffy was following.

He nodded and quickly hugged Sabo, letting go, he looked at me before head butting straight into my gut. I grunted, breathlessly chuckling while patting his head. I looked over at Shoto, who's brows immediately furrowed, he looked ready to argue but I shook my head and spoke first.

"Take Shoto with you, it's better if he's out there with you guys. It's the better option in general."

Luffy pulled away and looked at Shoto before nodding, he quickly made his way out. More tears were already falling as he left. Shoto sighed beside me before lightly punching my arm, a small smile on his lips as he rushed after Luffy. Then it was just the two older brothers left, we shared a look of understanding as he put on his new disguise and we made our way towards the arena.

"Are you a part of Luffy's crew? I haven't seen your wanted poster." Sabo remarked.

"Hah, no. I've mostly just been hitching a ride, got lost from home and can't seem to find a way back." I sighed as he nodded.

"What do you mean by "Quirk"? When you said you don't know if you'll even get the Mera Mera no mi's powers."

Glancing over at him, the corner of my mouth tugged to a slight grimace. "You'd be surprised how annoying it is to explain different universal concepts." His eyes widened before confusion painted itself on his face. He opened his mouth as I shook my head "I'd really rather not at the moment, no offense. You can always ask after we stop whatever is going on here."

He closed his mouth and nodded, smiling softly as we watched the seemingly shocking end of the last D block battle. A lot of people seemed to be unreasonably complaining about Rebecca winning, half of the audience dawned a sour air for the minutes in between transmissions. But it quickly cleared once the finally began, the last few contestants stood spread out. The crowd cheered as the announcer shouted his spiel before people inevitably started fighting. I wriggled my pinky in my ear, watching with amusement as the first person fell uselessly to the terrible waters below.

One by one, the Bull fish aimed for prey, and Rebecca was next. Sabo hopped quickly onto the fish, grabbing onto the chest chained to its back that held the prize everyone's fighting so desperately over. I stood practically invisible to the others going head to head, my eyes wandered. Immediately latching onto the fish, 'Again, why is it always fish? I get that the world is mostly ocean but geez.' I examined the chains and chest, biting the inside of my lip.

I waited for the perfect moment, which happened to be when the ring was destroyed and there wasn't much stable footing. I ran to the edge, eyes following the fish as it came closer. I jumped and slammed into the chest, grunting. I noticed Sabo coming from the corner of my eye, chuckling, I quickly opened the chest and grabbed the strange fruit. 'It looks like a flame, strangely enough.' I jumped off of the fish and onto the only piece of solid ground standing, Sabo landed beside me with a sigh.

I raised an eyebrow at him "Don't look so sour, like I said. It might not even work." I shrugged and took a bite.

I froze for a moment, a cold chill ran down my spine as I quickly swallowed and stuck my tongue out in disgust. "No one ever told me it would taste this terrible." I shook my head and tossed the fruit to him, glancing down at my body.

I returned my gaze to him, "I don't feel any different, just the lingering disgust, bleh."

He raised an eyebrow before shrugging and taking a bite as well, having a similar reaction to the taste. The crowd seemed shocked by the development, Sabo looked at his arm as it suddenly turned into fire. He looked up at me as I shrugged.

"I guess it worked out for you in the end, I still haven't used my quirk to see if anything's different. But I guess now is the perfect time." I smiled at him as he nodded and jumped down to help Rebecca.

Everyone was in shock as Sabo's disguise fell off, he used his flames and flew into the air. "Holy shit, no fair. I want to do that too" I huffed and quickly found my own way.

I slid my hands into my pockets as Sabo introduced him and his friends. '"Revolutionary Army?" I think Robin said something about them when explaining this world to me.'

They explained why they were here as my eyes wandered a bit, catching sight of two uninvited guests. I carefully looked away as to not alert them as I slowly removed myself from the group. Quietly sneaking against the wall, I smirked and slammed open the doors with a wave of flames, turning the two unlucky peeping toms into crisp ashes.

"What the hell!!?" Mr. Fanboy shouted.

The group's attention turned towards me as they all stared with wide eyes. I simply shrugged. "We had some spies, couldn't just let them report everything you guys said back to their boss."

Stopping for a moment, I looked down at my hands, then back at the largely charred area. Eyes widening at the sudden epiphany.

"It….It didn't hurt! Haha!"

I turned over my arms a few times, my cheeks started to hurt from how wide I was smiling. My eyes felt hot as my vision blurred from tears, it really didn't hurt, my skin isn't even so much as ashy. I broke into a fit of choked sobs and laughter, my legs were weak at the sudden bombardment of emotions wrecking my composure.

Kneeling, I lit small but hot fires on the tips of my fingers. My body shook as the flames dissipated. "I'm….I'm not defective anymore….?"

I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be a statement or a question, half of me feels like this is all just a delusion. Maybe hanging around crazy really made me crazy….Placing my hand over my mouth for a few moments. I sniffled and rubbed my wet eyes, taking a few deep breaths, I finally calmed down. Standing up, I glanced at the others who looked worried and confused.

Awkwardly smiling, I looked away to avoid any more embarrassment. 'If only Shigaraki and them could see me now, hah. No more burnt and rotting flesh wafting through the base every time I accidentally go overboard.' I clenched my hand into fists before joining the others without a word.

We moved on and eventually ran into the Samurai guy, Robin, the "Dwarves" who are actually the apparent "Fairies" that've been stealing peoples things, and of course Usopp. Who looks painfully brutalized, I almost thought he was dead by the way his nose is all bent and twisted. Everyone conversed as Mr. Fanboy spewed words senselessly at Robin, the others berated him as I sighed and looked up at the large expanse of stone.

'I almost wish I could switch spots with Eraser so I can test out my quirk properly, I'll ash that flamingo before he can even ruffle his feathers.'
