The Flies and The Fungus

"Phorid fly !!!" Shouted Melly loudly. Pak Manra tries to stick around so he can hear more clearly.

"Shouldn't that be included in the Biology subject, right?" Asked Mr. Manra, but none of the students answered, only paying attention in confusion. Realizing that there was no response from his students, Pak Manra stood up. He told his students, especially the boys, to move the tables to the side of the room with a row of chairs. Now they get more space to rest.

"Because Mr. Rahmat wants to put some chemical thing there, right?" Dila said finally speaking up when the boys busy moving the tables and the chairs.

"But why did they attack us earlier? Why don't they come into the room?" Amir asked, bringing chairs in his hands to be placed near the table. Zahra looked down in dizziness thinking about what was going on. At that moment, she saw a white spot on her shoe in the form of powder. Zahra thought that it was powder from chalk, but she realized that her school was no longer using chalk but markers.

"because of the insect repellent?"Zahra asked doubtfully in her own words.

"Because they are ants?" Asked Sita.

"No !! Because of the fly larvae!" Yuki replied.

"So what are the little bumps on their heads like tiny antennae?" Asked Oki. Again Melly was silent as she seemed to be thinking about something.

"Aish !! Oki! It must be because of the fly larvae!" Masri argued, he tried to sound like he agreed with Yuki's opinion.

"Not!" argued Melly quickly. "I was also thinking ... The thing that makes zombie ants have antennae is not the Phorid fly larvae. But ..." Melly thought hard, then fell silent.

"You don't know at all?" Again Jesi underestimated Melly. But Melly ignored it.

"Huh !!! You guys keep me thinking hard! You all don't feel hungry?" Septi grumbled, an exotic skinned female student with a big body.

"Haah ...! Why are you always feeling hungry?" Sita said.

"Yeah... Yeah! If you don't eat, you die !!!" Septi answered. Almost all the students laughed at Septi's words which they thought were true.

"Okay ..., Come on, let's get some of the meals upstairs first. Bring some bread and water down here. After that, we can all rest!" Mr. Manra said. Mr. Manra asked Juan, Amir, and Iki to take food upstairs to share with their friends.

All students receive the same amount of food. The students were still unfamiliar with their current situation. Everyone receive and eat what they get, then took a sleeping position. The children slept on tables they had arranged around the room by the wall. Meanwhile, the girls slept on the floor with bags instead of their pillows. And Pak Manra slept leaning at the door just in case.

"Mel!" Isti called Melly in a low voice. She also touched Melly's head which was right beside her with her index finger. Other girls are seen waking up among their friends who sleep around, and it was Yuki.

"You two can't sleep either, huh?" Yuki greeted the two of them with a question. Melly gave up and got up, Isti followed. Then both of them nodded in agreement with Yuki's words.

"Wait a minute!" Isti said while looking around to looking for something. "OK! Now continue!" Isti said again after holding a plastic bag filled with insect repellent.

"Haaa, You are so afraid you have to be like that." Yuki scoffed.

"UNILITERALIST OPHIOCORDYCEPS is one type of fungus that is used!!!!!!!" Melly screamed because she was too happy, then immediately covered her mouth with her hands.

"Huh? OPI? Union? Trellis?" Yuki asked confused.

"What is that mushroom?" Isti asked.

"A fungus! A parasitic fungus! Which can turn ants into zombies too!" Melly was clearly excited.

"So, you mean, the seniors mix mushroom seeds into fly larvae?" Guess Isti. Melly nodded.

"And they all mutated." Yuki joined in the guess. Melly was silent with her serious face again. The situation returned to silence because the three of them fell silent in the end.

And without them knowing, something had opened the door slowly and pulled Manra's body out of the classroom. Everything happened very fast. Isti, Melly, and Yuki who watched the incident shouted loudly to wake up all her friends. Amir who just woke up immediately jumped from the table and ran toward the door and closed it in panic. The girls hug each other to calm their hysterics. Slowly move back to the corner of the classroom to touch the table. Meanwhile, male students gathered by the window to monitor the situation outside the classroom. They also tried to see what happened to Mr. Manra, their physics teacher. The bodies of the male students shuddered because they were horrified to see what these strange things had done to Mr. Manra. Then one of the things dragged the rest of Mr. Manra's body away. It seemed like it was trying to enjoy everything on their own, completely turning like a wild animal. No one of them knows how Mr. Manra's condition after that. All they saw now was the fresh blood flowing down the terrace floor in front of their classroom. Everyone panicked again, the sound of crying out of fear sounded louder.

"Zah! Put some powder near the door!" Masri orders to Izah.

"Never!" Refuse Izah with arrogance. "Why don't you do it yourself? Why should I??"

"what's wrong with you??? He's just asking for HELP, IZAAAHHH !!!" Rianis screamed in annoyance.

"I swear! If there are zombies, seriously! I will throw this person out of the room so that her body will be eaten by that monster!" Tiwi grumbled. Melly finally got up from her seat and walked slowly towards the door. Shee made sure the door was tightly closed and locked it.

"Goodbye, sir! You've done well, thank you..." Melly whispered to the closed door, then returned to her original position. The sound of crying subsided, Amir looked very frustrated. His friends are now leaning on him.
