Into the Deep

"Tomorrow's the day!" Sandra exclaimed excitedly "I can't believe it's here so soon!" barely holding in her excitement as she tries on her pant suit for the twentieth time since it's arrival. The workers hemmed the suit to fit her feminine figure perfectly allowing curves in all the right places.

"The rehearsal is in an hour honey" Del offers pointing out it's not the big day yet.

"I just wanted to make sure it fit well." Sandra blushed.

"It fits you perfectly every time." eyeing her future wife with desire in her eyes she wraps her arms around Sandra's waist placing a kiss down the side of her neck. Sandra's body visibly melted at this action "Are we really going to wait until it's official?" she pleaded.

"That's what you said you wanted, for a traditional wedding." Del reasoned with the slightly taller woman standing in front of her.

"Oh alright, it was my rule after all. I'll change clothes soon, I just want to check"

Del interrupts her "Check if they missed anything?" flasing a teasing smile.

"Yes" Sandra stated confidently pursing her lips in defiance.

"Here is the list of everyone who RSVPed, they should all have arrived by now so we will have a good turnout." Del handed her the paper many of the names were her colleagues and family, a few odd names she knew Del must have invited.

"You invited Mrs. Bethel, Mr. Chukowski ?" Sandra wondered what was her fiance thinking.

"Yeah, and Bobby too" Del smiled at her apparent annoyance.

"What about your parents?" Sandra asking a bit saddened at the thought that the love of her life will not be walked down the aisle by her father.

Noticing the sadness in her tone "Don't worry my brother will walk me down the aisle." her words soothed the worrisome looks that now faded from Sandra's face.

"I'm glad you have him."

"We have twenty minutes before the rehearsal now so stops dawdling" Del teased as she made her way through the house and towards the backyard. Sandra hurriedly changed out into something casual and replaced the suit back into the protective liner on the hanger. She was about to make her way to the pavillion in the back yard when she heard the doorbell 'Ding Dong' turning on her heels she redirected herself to the door.

"Daddy! You made it, I'm so good to see you." tears fell down her face even though she's smiling, not understanding why, she shook them off and hugged her father tightly.

"I wouldn't miss my only daughter's wedding!" a thundering but calming voice exclaimed with pride.

"Daddy, you have two daughters" she laughed and slapped his arm playfully "Don't let Suzanne catch you saying that." she lead him to the engraved glass double doors leading to the backyard pavilion opening them felt majestic in its own right. The crowd of people were all gathered to begin the rehearsal.

A woman walks through the crowd place "Quiet down everyone, I'm going to put you into your places before we begin."

"That must be the planner we hired, she seems familiar" a thought that skimmed its way into Sandra's mind before she blew it off "no matter, let's do this." she made her way to the archway and stood in the position marked with blue painters tape. Seeing Del move to her spot in front of her made her face blush as she was incredibly nervous all of a sudden.

"Pretend that you like each other!" the planner calls from the back of the crown. The two steps in closer together gazing deep into one another's eyes for a brief but lasting moment. The bridesmaids lined up behind Del and the "grooms' men" lined up behind Sandra, she had made the executive decision that she would dress as the groom for tradition sake. Sandra's sister Suzanne offered to be a groomsmen for her as well but she couldn't pass up the chance to dress her little sister up in a ridiculous bridesmaid dress; even so, she felt her sister looked beautiful in the pale purple puff she had picked out and couldn't wait to see everyone lined up in them.

"Ok everyone, remember your positions! If you have a problem, speak up now!" the planner yells over the crowd as they chat to one another.

"Uh, yes I have a slight problem" Sandra's father calls out "If I sit on this side I can't see my daughter's beautiful smiling face, just the back of her head." he lets out a chuckle with that last part.

"Yes, fine. You two switch sides." the planner called out to the man that resembles Del "anything else before we move on.... No? Alright then." The rest of the rehearsal went on without a hitch, they practiced it one more time before moving on. The green meadow where Sandra had proposed was now set with a stage and towering canopies allowing for a dance floor surrounded by tables and chairs. Rectangular tables lined the back wall ready for the feast that will be placed atop its sturdy frame.

The two women prepared themselves in separate locations as is customary to be apart until the ceremony. Sandra fussed over her tailored suit wondering if it looked too masculine. With that thought a woman walked over and added a delicate white flower to the jacket pocket. "Yes, that is exactly what I had in mind." her excitement amping up her nerves she checks her make up three more times before making her way to the double doors where her father stood waiting patiently to walk her out. The music begins and the chatter of the crowd goes silent. "This is it daddy." she blew out a breath as if she had been holding it all morning, he offers his arm to her with a smile filled with love and pride. The doors open simultaneously as they step in tune with the music arm in arm, the crowd of people looking back towards her with smiles on their faces. At the front her father whispers "I love you, my dandy Sandy." their arms untwine as he takes his seat, she gazes at him with a heart full of love tinged with sorrow. The glass doors open once more to reveal Del arm in arm with her brother, her dress flowing in the wind laced edges around the hem as well as the three quarter sleeves beautifully decorated with such delicate intricacies depicting flowers and doves while showing off the slightest of skin underneath. The bodice perfectly fit to her frame amplifying her beauty. Her strawberry blonde hair braided and wrapped not a hair out of place with the veil draped subtly down her oval face while those deep blue eyes shown bright. Her presence was astounding as she gracefully made her way down the aisle toward Sandra.

"Dearly beloved, we have gathered here today....." the Officiants voice seemed to trail off as Sandra's focus was only on the woman standing before her. Her scent has become so familiar but also intoxicating at the same time. They exchange their vows of for better or for worse before exchanging rings.

"With this ring, I thee wed" she slips the ring onto her lovers' slender finger.

"I now pronounce you partner and wife you may kiss the bride." He closes his book in completion of his duties.

Sandra leans in to kiss Del when everyone vanishes, the sky becomes dark and her head starts bleeding. She stumbles into the rows of chairs holding her head trying to stop the bleeding to no avail. "What's happening! Del! .....Daddy!? Anyone?" she cries out. Rain begins to pour down flooding the area, she fees to the canopies hoping for protection from the cruel weather. Looking around there is no one to be seen in any direction, she trails blood behind her leaving handprints on the white tables as she desperately keeps herself from falling. Her vision becomes blurry going in and out of darkness when she turns to steady herself with the tables against the wall her hands squish into rotton food covered in maggots and mold. Drawing her hand out of the pile she steps back in horror before falling to the ground gasping for breath. The grass beneath her begins to pool and bubble as she crawls her way out of the tented area heading for the house. The more she crawls the heavier her body feels as she digs her fingers into the muddy dirt. The mud rises inch by in with every inch of ground she gains towards the house; before she knows it she's swimming but the house seems to be getting further and further away until a whirl pool forms around her sucking at her body, drawing her in closer with each breath. One last plea for help escapes her weak body as the mud covers her face, arms still reaching for safety. A voice whispers, "please come back" and then she feels warmth on her hand as if someone has grabbed it, with much effort she clenches her hand around the warmth allowing it to pull her free.
