Glimmer of False Hope

The nine figures were like cats and mice. They simply ran and ran.

Who knows how many trees have they passed by, it was all but important.

*Huff* *Huff*

The two runners were coming into exhaustion, but there were knives behind their tails; they had to keep advancing forward.

Meanwhile, the seven men were just as steady as before. For sure, their body took a toll, but all it did was to roll down a couple beads of sweat. The difference in cultivation is clear cut.

At this rate, it was only a matter of time before cessation arrives.

Or perhaps the fatigue would come into play earlier than expected.

*Thak!* *Ahh!!*

The young master's servant, Ling Wei, has lost her focus and tripped on a little twig. Her body lost balance and fell abruptly. Because of the speed, several patches of skin were cut open by the obstacles, most were light, but one was deep enough to eliminate her desire to continue running. It was a stick that stuck itself far into her thigh.

"Young master! Don't stop running!" She shouted immediately, she doesn't want to be a factor that causes her owner's death.

Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. Ling Fan had already took a brake to turn back right when he knew the situation. There was more than enough time for the Seven Sins to catch up right after he stopped moving, much less to have time to carry his servant away. Clearly, he has already made a decision to stay.

"Ling Wei! Are you alright!?" Ling Fan asked in haste. He never took Ling Wei as his servant, to him, she was his sister. Seeing her getting injured like that, he couldn't help but feel a sharp pain in his heart.

"Hehe...its always so easy to hunt down young people like you. Always so brash and foolish. Its unfortunate that you didn't inherit even an inch your father's greatness, and yet some people just love to say 'like father, like son'. Tsk, what a fart of a sentence!" The head of Seven Sins, Liu Renjing, spoke in condescend while slowly walking towards him.

Ling Fan's expression darkened. He realized that he had already been surrounded.

His heartbeat started to calm down, there was no escape anymore. He knew that the Seven Sins were all experienced criminals, and adding on their much superior cultivation, it would take a miracle for him to overcome this disaster.

Knowing that, he still decided to fight back. Who knows what would truly happen? At least there was still a chance.

He turned his focus back onto the approaching peril, his eyes scanned the surrounding carefully, making sure to not miss a single thing of use. And very quickly, his expression turned into one of joy!

That is because, standing behind the many tree trunks far in the distance, he saw two old men! This jungle is in Flame Tiger Mountain, a dwelling place for many spiritual beasts. The deeper it is into the mountain, the stronger the beasts around would be. They had not encountered any spiritual beasts during the chase, that is due to the strong cultivation of the Seven Sins, as well as the size of the mountain.

The mountain encompass an extremely large area, so large that it would take not just one, but a few weeks for someone like Ling Fan to reach the inner region of the mountain! Therefore, there were no spiritual beasts stopping their tracks, and the weaker beasts were scared of attacking the Seven Sins.

But now, there are two old men in the midst of a jungle in Flame Tiger Mountain. Although he doesn't know how strong they are, but he is definitely certain that they are both cultivators. There was still...a chance!

"Seniors! Please save us!" Ling Fan had his lungs completely filled, and shouted towards the two elders.

This action of his caused everyone else to turn and look towards the unexpected element.

They were two old men. Both were donned in plain robes, one was brown and the other was light blue.

Liu Renjing frowned. He had not expected somebody else to be here. Being used to acting dominantly in Mist City actually caused him to forgot such basics like scouring the surrounding. Now, he is in a dilemma. He couldn't tell the cultivation of the old men since they were too far apart, and if he were to finish off Ling Fan right now, the elders might just be someone of great cultivation and had wanted to save them at the same time. If that's the case, then it would truly spell trouble for him and his group.

"Boss, what do we do?" A bald member of the Seven Sins asked.

"Hold onto them first." Liu Renjing replied to his underling while pointing at the Ling duo. The old men were coming to them anyway. If their cultivation isn't high...Hmph! He will make them pay the price for wasting his time. As for people who might've seen his actions? Who cares about some trash young master and his servant? Even if news about this spread, The Ling family wouldn't waste manpower to offend such a group like the Seven Sins. On the other hand, the news spreader is the one who would be hunted down on the basis of spreading 'false report'.

Time is ticking, the two elders were already 10 meters away from the group. As for Ling Fan and Ling Wei? They were subdued with ease, especially with Ling Fan not even fighting back. Who knows if the Seven Sins would do something to them out of anger? It would be fine if they lashed out on him, but he doesn't want to see Ling Wei getting injured anymore. Things are as such already, he might as well gamble on the approaching old men.

But as time goes on, the shade of hope turned dimmer and dimmer. Ling Fan's facial expression turned uglier and uglier, because he could clearly feel that the two old men has absolutely no Spiritual Qi ripple. This meant that, they were both just ordinary humans.

Not just Ling Fan, but Liu Renjing as well. In fact, he is even more certain than Ling Fan, that they were just mortals with no cultivation. That is because he of a lucky encounter he once had to witness two Soul Bridge Realm experts fighting. Even before the fight began, he could clearly feel massive surge of Spiritual Qi they radiate by just standing there.

Spiritual Apprentice, Inner Gate, Soul Bridge...

As for the two old men having higher cultivation than Soul Bridge Realm? Hehe, that is impossible. Even the strongest expert in Mist City only had two Inner Gates opened out of eight. Soul Bridge Realm experts wouldn't even bother to come to such a desolate place like Mist City, perhaps one in fifty years, someone of Mist City would've had the chance to see a Soul Bridge expert cruising by the city to somewhere else, but that was it.

"Hahaha!" Liu Renjing laughed in anger, he gripped his fists tightly, veins were popping out.

"Finish the Ling trash off." He told his subordinates lightly.

"As for you two..." Liu Renjing faced the two elders, his lips drew an ugly smirk.

But before he could complete his sentence, the elder in brown robes bent over and picked up a bundle of pebble from the ground. These were small, marble-sized rocks.

With a pile of pebble in his hand, he held it up slightly above his hips. His thumb worked along with his middle finger to hold a piece of pebble in place.

"Don't tell me you're trying to..." Looking at his actions, Liu Renjing anger subsided, and he chuckled.

*Whoom*

Something whizzed pass his left ear,

*BAANG!!*

A huge explosion occurred a distance behind him, he slowly turned his head to look back, and saw a huge long column of trees had their top blasted apart, leaving only two meter tall stumps on the ground.

A warm sensation of liquid was felt where his left ear was, and that brought him back to his senses.

His knees grew weak, and just when he wanted to plead for his survival, eight more whooms resounded, along with eight more louds bangs in the background.

Each and every one of the Seven Sins member had a hole in their forehead. Bloods and brains splattered across the area like it is nobody's business.

Shock and happiness is what Ling Fan felt, and also what he would've wanted to continue feeling. He turned his head to look at Ling Wei, and saw that the same thing happened to her as well. There was a tunnel in her forehead, leading from the front to the backside. Looking at her gaping mouth and rolled eyes, anger gushed out from his heart to every part of his body, his eyes turned red.

He turned his head again to face...a piece of pebble. Almost instantly, his pendant shone brightly, forming a green, translucent barrier around him.

*Thangg!*

The pebble smashed against the green barrier, and caused it to break into countless fragments on the spot.

In turn, the pebble was stopped, it broke the barrier, but was turned into dust from the rebounding force.

*Whoom*

Another pebble was shot out, this time Ling Fan's fate was the same as the rest of the bodies. His body dropped flat on the ground, motionless.

At the same time the green barrier broke.

A man in the depths of abyss was shook. A tremor strung his mind in waves, and it took him a couple of breaths before stabilizing.

"Somebody...altered the karma I've set..." His hoarse voice echoed in the darkness.

Back in the jungle,

The elder in brown robes once again looked at aged notebook.

Written on the page was:

Vacation 3500334 : Seven Seas World

2....

3....

"Come on, let's go." The elder in brown robes said.
