Soon they arrived at Princess Emma's room and she dragged Diana inside happily closing the door behind them. "Let's see what we brought!" she cheered heading over to a table and taking a seat Diana sat next to her on a separate chair.
Emmas room is feminine and elegant there are three other doors one is covered by pale pink curtains so Diana assumes it leads outside. Next to it on either side is a large window which has a cushioned pale pink seat and lavender cushions. Her bed is big enough to fit three to four people. Her walls are a pink so pale it looks almost white. Her bed sheets are a dark pink. One double door leads to what Diana assumes is her walk in wardrobe. The other Diana believes leads to her personal bathroom. Parallel to her bed is a fireplace that's currently lit and above them is a beautiful chandelier. Shes has a few trunks for toys and neatly put away and cared for is her personalised archery kit. The floor is a soft pink carpet which seems to be immaculate.
Diana emptied the content of her satchel onto the white table. Only leaving her dagger, money pouch, the sugar cubes and apples inside. "Wow! We got some really pretty things today," Emma pointed out admiring their purchases which are mostly hers. "Would you mind helping me put them away?"
"Of course not come on let's do it before your dinner,"
"Ok!" Emma cheered "Let's put the accessories away first," Diana picked up the accessories she brought from the table following her into her wardrobe where she instructed as to wear to put each piece of jewellery. Then they put her sweets away , followed by her books which fitted perfectly onto her book shelf. They finished putting her new belongings away fairly quickly. Then Diana put the accessories Emma insisted on buy for her away in hey satchel as well as a few books Diana purchased. After finishing they sat down and talked. "Could you help me take this off?" Emma asked struggling with taking off her cloak.
"Of course," Dina leaned over and helped her take it off and hang it up before taking down her own hood and removing her cloak. Placing it with her satchel on the empty chair beside her. After awhile of idle chatter they heard a knock at the door.
"Come in," Emma called out.
The door opened and Alex stood in the doorway "Its time for dinner Emma, clean up and then come to dinner, alright?"
"Ok, big brother," she happily piped.
"Diana,"
"Yes?" she asked with a raised eyebrow as she turned her head to look at him.
"My parents have invited you to join us as well if you like," Alex informed her.
"Alright I'll be there shortly I just have to go put my things away first if that's alright,"
"Of course take your time," Alex and Emma smiled before Diana left the room grabbing her satchel and cloak on the way Alex stepped aside to let her through. Diana could hear Emma rush into the bathroom to clean up.
'It seems no matter how much I fight it I can't deny that I care for them and that they've somehow found away to become my...friends,' Diana thought as she arrived at her room.
After going inside she turned on the lights and put everything away before freshening up. 'I wonder why I couldn't block them out like I could everyone else. For years I built up my walls resigning myself to act like a doll not letting anyone in. I concealed my emotions I made it so nothing could hurt me ever again and yet no matter how hard I try I cant keep them out.' Diana thought to herself before leaving her room and heading over to the dining hall.
Reaching the large oak doors she pushed them open and entered the dining hall closing them behind them. Her heels making a distinctive noise as she walked across the pearl white floor.
"Big sister!" Emma broadly smiled at my entrance and patted the seat between her Alex. Diana happily obliged and sat between the two siblings. Alex is sat beside his father while Emma is sat beside her mother.
"Thank you for the invitation,"
"Theres no need to thank us," Queen Valeria beamed at Diana. Their meals soon arrived and they started eating them chatting in between bites.
"I hope my sister didn't cause you any trouble," Alex said as they just started eating.
"Not at all, she never ran off and was well behaved." Diana assured him.
"That doesn't mean she dudnt annoy you," he pointed out.
"Hey! Dont be mean!" Emma pouted at Alex's suggestions.
Diana giggled at this which caused everyone to stare at her as though they were hearing a beautiful melody for the first time "Hehe, not at all after all its surprisingly hard to irritate me,"
Alex was first to snap back to his senses "That's true," he conceded as they continued eating and chatting. While everyone was eating Alex noticed Diana staring off into the distance and he smiled watching her from the corner of his eye.
'This is the type of family everyone should grow up with even though there at war they still laugh together and smile.' This thought resonated in Diana's mind for awhile before she felt something hit her head.
"Diana, Diana," it was only then she noticed someone saying her name but before she could reply Queen Valeria spoke.
"Emma! Don't play with your food!" she scolded.
"But I didn't," Emma defended against the accusation.
"Shes right mother she didnt play with the pees she merely used her spoon to flick one at Diana's head to gain her attention," Akex stepped in and agreed with his younger sister.
"Why did you flick the pee at me anyway?" Diana asked not caring for their debate.
"You spaced out and weren't answering," Alex answered taking a sip from his drink.
"So you decided flicking a pee at me, was the best way to get my attention?" Diana asked raising an eyebrow.
"Yes!" Emma nodded with a smile.
"I'm guessing you wanted my attention for a reason,"
"We were wondering how you found today," King Brian said.
"I enjoyed myself, I didn't really get to go out before so I enjoyed going to the town." Diana replied with a smile. Soon their deserts came and Emma began to yawn.
"I think it's time for bed Emma," Queen Valeria smiled.
"Ok but can big sister tuck me in please?" Emma asked cutely.
"You'll have to ask her," King Brian replied.
Emma turned towards Diana before asking "Can you please tuck me in big sister?"
"Alright, say good night to your family and then I'll tuck you in,"
"Alright," she beamed and ran over to her parents giving them each a hug before running over to Alex and doing the same. After that the two girls excused them selves and Diana took Emma to her room where she got dressed and got washed before she crawled into her bed. Diana took the sheets and covered her in them.
"Goodnight Emma," Diana said about to walk outside before Emma grabbed her hand causing her to stop. "Is there something wrong?"
"Could you tell me a bedtime story?"
Diana was taken back by her question but relented and sat on the side of her bed "Which story?"
"Any!" Emma smiled looking at Diana while comfortably curled up in her bed.
"A long, long time ago there lived a beautiful goddess she watched as the world evolved never interfering. She watched as greed and conflicted spread and watched when those brave enough to fight stood true to their beliefs. However, one day a few of her fellow gods de died they wanted to claim the world for themselves and so the goddess decided to take action and ever since when the world is faced with unimaginable evil she returns to fight." As she finished her story Diana heard Emmas soft, even breaths as she slept peacefully beside her.
Diana just smiled before tucking her in and walking outside shutting the door behind her. She walked to a balcony which surveys the kingdom and sat on it watching as the lights from the town nearby slowly disappear one by one.
