I've been at Camp Half-Blood for a week now. I hope you're doing well. Sorry I haven't sent a message sooner. Love you, Mom.
Yours truly, Peck.
I set down the pen and sighed. I couldn't call my Mom or send a text to her because it sends out a beacon for monsters within five miles of camp and it was dangerous. Besides its not like I'm even able to send my Mom this note, so what was the point. I glared down at the paper then crumpled it up into a ball and threw it into the garbage can.
"Gods, this is infuriating!" I growled. I was tired, I hardly slept and avoided the other campers as much as possible. I stood up and stormed out of the Hermes cabin and stepped out into the snow. Snow fell from the heavens above and I made a mental note to thank Khione, goddess of snow.
In the distance, I could see Chiron was advising some campers at the Archery range. At least four Apollo boys were training with bows, showing off to some Aphrodite girls nearby.
I stepped inside the Pegasus Stables and grabbed a rake that was leaning against a wall. I had found it easiest to think in the Pegasus Stables, as I cleaned I thought about a few things. I wondered how long I'd have to stay in camp, I wondered if I would ever get a quest and how I can control my powers. A pegasus neighed and I looked up, a brown pegasus stomped its hoof on the ground. Its coat had white dapples all over and its muzzle was spotted with grey.
"Hey, girl." I patted its muzzle.
It stomped its hoof and nuzzled her.
"Why would a pegasus like a child of Hades?" I wondered aloud setting the rake against the stable.
"Hey, why are you in here?" A kid with blond hair walked in. He was clearly a child of Apollo.
"I'm just checking on the pegasi," I replied.
"But you're a-"
"Child of Hades. Yeah, I know I don't belong here, so shut up about it already." I snapped then took a breath. "We haven't formally met, the names Peck and yours?"
"Will Solace." He replied.
"Child of the great Apollo, the god of the sun, music, poetry and more," I growled.
"And you're a child of Hades, the god of the dead and lord of the underworld," Will responded.
"Dead and riches actually."
"Whatever dead kid, her names Keena." Will walked over and rubbed the pegasus's muzzle.
"Listen, Will, I think we got off on the wrong hand. It'd be nice to have more than two friends in this problem child camp."
Will burst into laughter and I started to chuckle as well.
"You know what, yeah, we can be friends." Will smiled.
"Good, cause I'm dying of boredom here." I smiled.
