I sat at my table alone again. I was getting used to being by myself, but I still hated it. At school, I would either skip or eat alone at lunch, its how I grew up. My mom would wake me up in the morning, leave for work and I would be home almost all day.
I poured more than half my food into the fire for my father and Persephone this time. I couldn't stop thinking about how I was probably going to get scolded by Chiron or Mr. D. Fortunately I was able to finish my meal without getting scolded, I wasn't too lucky afterwards. As I was walking to the Hermes cabin I was stopped when someone put their hand on my shoulder. I looked back and saw Chiron.
"Can I explain before you scold me?" I asked.
Chiron didn't respond so I guessed I could continue.
"Keena wanted to go for a ride, but I didn't know she would fly so close to the border. I know I shouldn't be riding the pegasi and I won't ride a pegasus till I'm allowed to."
"Well, I should hope you'll listen to yourself and I won't scold you," Chiron said and walked back to the Dining Pavilion.
I hurried to the Hermes cabin, opened the door, shut it and flopped onto my bed. I curled up hugging my pillow, my stomach was full of butterflies as I thought of being with Juniper today. A group of Hermes kids looked over at me.
The group included a boy with green eyes, dark skin, blond and dyed blue hair, blue jeans and a Camp Half-Blood shirt with a necklace that had two beads. A girl with dirty-blond hair, light skin, green eyes, grey jeans, a soft yellow jacket over a Camp Half-Blood shirt and a necklace with four beads. And a boy with short, curly brown hair, brown eyes, olive skin, a bright green jacket over a Camp Half-Blood shirt, tan jeans and a necklace with three beads.
"You good man?" The boy with curly hair asked.
"Yeah, I guess so." I shrugged sitting up still hugging the pillow.
"You two continue planning how to prank the Aphrodite girls, I'll talk with her." The girl walked over.
"Be careful Harper, she-"
"I wouldn't dare hurt another camper." I cut the boy with blond and blue hair off.
The girl named Harper walked over to me, asked if she could sit down, I nodded and she sat down.
"Harper?" I guessed.
"Yep, and you're Peck."
"Yeah," I sighed.
"Being a child of Hades is awesome, why be so down about it?"
"Almost everyone's scared of me, they think I'll have skeletons or zombies attack 'em or some crazy crap like that."
"Well, I'm not scared of you."
"Thank Zeus for that."
Harper chuckled.
"I'm glad some campers aren't scared of me," I said quietly.
"I'd best get back to the other two, make sure to get some sleep." Harper stood up and walked to the two boys.
I took Harper's advice, I set down my pillow at the end of my bed, pulled the blanket over myself without even changing into pyjama's and quickly fell asleep. I was thankful that I didn't dream.
