The next morning I awoke fairly early, most of the Hermes and unclaimed kids were still asleep except for at least two empty bunks. I guessed they were pranking the Ares kids as I dressed into another pair of black jeans and a red and blue sweatshirt that read: Northern Anthems: City of Love by Vian Izak, another favourite singer of mine.
I brushed my hair and teeth then walked out of the cabin, I sat down and waited for Juniper. I distracted myself by singing Things Will Get Better by Vian Izak in my head, I hadn't realized I'd been singing out loud quietly.
"You've got a good voice." Someone said from in front of me.
"Huh? What are you talking about?" I looked up and recognized the soft yellow eyes, hazel hair and dark olive skin.
"You were singing quietly to yourself Peck." Juniper held out her hand and I took it.
Juniper wore black jeans a necklace with three beads and a soft yellow sweater over a CHB shirt. (for your sake, reader, CHB means Camp Half-Blood for short)
"What's that necklace about Juniper?" I asked.
"Its how many years you've been at camp, each bead is different," Juniper responded.
"That makes sen-"
I was cut off by a yell from the Ares cabin, "Stolls?" I guessed.
"Stolls." Juniper sighed, "Clarrise is going to kill them, c'mon, we'd best stop the fight before anyone gets hurt. Our cabin doesn't need anyone else to worry about, especially not those two."
We raced to see the commotion, Clarrise was yelling curses in ancient greek at the two brothers as they ran past us. I saw Clarrise before Juniper did, Clarrise was racing towards the two of them, her spear in hand.
"Juniper!" I jumped at Juniper and we both fell to the ground. My legs tripped Clarrise and she fell face-first into the snow.
I landed on top of Juniper, who was now covered in snow. At least no one was hurt. Juniper looked up at me embarrassed. I quickly climbed off her and looked back at Clarrise, she was glaring at me.
"Another happy landing as Obi-wan would've said it." I tried to joke.
"I'll get the Stolls another time," Clarrise grumbled loudly.
"Is anyone hurt?" Juniper sat up brushing the snow from her sweater.
Clarrise didn't bother replying, she just stood up, grabbed her spear and walked back to her cabin.
"I think I'm..." I trailed off when I saw my ankle. The snow around it was stained red, I pulled my jean leg up to reveal a small yet deep cut. "Not good, definitely not good."
"Yep, not good," Juniper looked at my ankle.
The snow helped a lot, it was so cold it numbed some of the pain. A few more campers walked out of their cabins to see what had happened.
A girl from the Athena with blond hair, blue jeans and an orange CHB shirt raced over with a roll of bandages. "I knew someone was going to be hurt." She handed the roll to Juniper.
"Thanks, Annabeth." Juniper started to roll it around my ankle.
I saw Alex and Will walk out of their cabins, Will turned and walked in again to grab something. Alex looked at me then raced over.
"What happened?" He asked.
"The Stolls and Clarrise happened," Juniper responded.
"I'm fine," I said though I felt sick to the stomach with all the attention I was getting.
"That bandage won't do much, I'll help you to the Apollo cabin." Juniper stood me up. "Don't put pressure on your ankle."
With the help of Juniper, we reached the Apollo cabin in a matter of seconds. Almost all the campers were now awake, the whole Apollo cabin was buzzing around like bees on a windy day. I recognized a few of them but I didn't know their names. Juniper sat me down on her bunk and hurried to find something. I recognized Will as he walked over to me with Juniper.
"Thank the gods she didn't get electrocuted." Will was saying.
My stomach did a flip, I took a shaky breath. "Electrocuted?" I echoed.
"Gift from her dad, Ares." Juniper scoffed, "She uses it whenever we do capture the flag, I'm sure she'll use it tonight."
"Isn't that dangerous?" I asked.
"Can be, I mean we can heal them but still dangerous," Will said as he removed the bandage.
I stayed silent as Juniper and Will worked on my ankle. It stung terribly. After ten or so minutes it was all patched up, I had to limp or it would get worse.
"See you two later." Will walked out of the cabin.
"Two days in the infirmary, that's what you owe for knocking me down," Juniper said as she took off her sweater.
"Fine." I sighed, Juniper and I were the only ones in the Apollo cabin. I couldn't leave because Juniper wanted to keep a close look at my injury.
"Oh, don't look so down, it'll be fun." Juniper walked over and stood in front of me.
I looked up at her from where I was sitting. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach when I connected eyes with her.
"Plus, we can get to know each other," Juniper said. "Now come on, let's go get some fresh air."
Before I said anything Juniper took my hand and pulled me to my feet.
